Following the Valspar Championship, the PGA Tour heads to the Dominican Republic for its next event. The Corales Puntacana Championship is the 23rd tournament of the 40+ event season on the Tour this year. And with tons at stake, like a whopping purse and other perks for the winner, it will undoubtedly be filled with intense competitive moments for the fans to enjoy. The field and format of the Corales Puntacana Championship
The event, similar to all regular tour events, will begin on Thursday this week and be played across 4 days. Come Sunday, one player from the 120-player field will take home the title and the benefits that go along with it. The pros make their way to the field based on the tour’s priority order and other criteria.

Following two rounds, nearly half the field will head home as the event sees a cut being made after 36 holes. Only the top 65 players and ties at the end of Thursday will go on to compete in the final two rounds of the event.
The Corales Golf Club in the Dominican Republic will host the 13th Tour event for the 2023 calendar year. Many top players, like Zac Blair and Ryan Armour, will be on the field. Akshay Bhatia, the American youngster who has been gaining a lot of traction of late, is also one of the favorites to grab a win. Chad Ramey, the defending champion will also return to the course, to try and get a back-to-back even win.
Total prize money and the winner’s cut
The Corales Puntacana Championship has a total purse of $3.8 million. The total prize money has increased by $100,000 since the last year. In line with the standard 18% payout as per the PGA Tour’s prize money distribution chart, the winner will receive $684,000. All the players who make it through all four rounds will stand to receive a piece of the purse.

But the trophy and prize money are not all the winner will take home this week. In addition to the huge check, he will also earn 300 FedEx Cup points. The victor will also receive 14 OWGR points, which are based on field strength. Moreover, he will also win a two-year exemption on the PGA Tour and an exemption into the Tournament of Champions in 2024.
