Charles Barkley wasn’t fond of it! Former NFL player Jason Kelce is here with his new late-night show, They Call It Late Night. For the guests, he has brought in legends of two different crafts who are united through their Philly roots. NBA legend Charles Barkley and musician Lil Dicky graced the show as guests. Most of the time, Barkley and the host kept up with the fun, but one particular situation with the musician led Chuck to make an upsetting confession.
It was highlighted during the show that the musician, David Burd, is a fan of the Philadelphia Eagles as well as the Philadelphia 76ers. Barkley was quick to remark, “You’re gonna die!” Turning the already comical situation more hilarious, Burd shared that he is well aware of the odds.
“I might die but but I hope not honestly I have such like blind optimism when it comes to Philadelphia sports so for whatever reason I like I just bet $750 that the Sixers are going to win the NBA championship cuz the odds will never be in my favor quite like this because no one obviously ever shares Chuck’s perspective. I mean it sucks but believe in them,” Lil Dicky explained.

It has been more than four decades since the 76ers won a championship. The last was when Moses Malone and Julius Erving led the team to the championship in 1983. However, Burd is still prefers to put his money on the team. In fact, he seems to have done the calculations as well. Holding onto the last straw of hope, Joel Embiid, he expressed his frustration about how he hasn’t been able to stay healthy in the playoffs. But he is still hopeful and even explained how there might be a chance.

“When he’s (Embiid) healthy he truly the best player in the NBA in my opinion and I think if he has the right runway and the cards fall the right way I don’t know I mean the Celtics are kind of historically great,” Burd said and before he could finish, Chuck reminded him that there are a lot of “ifs” in his explanations.

What does Charles Barkley think?
Barkley explained his take on it. “We’re not f—–g Steel Workers; we’re not teachers…If you’re going to to make $30 $40 $50 million to play basketball two days in a role if if that’s too much to ask please tell me….these guys are making $50 $60 million and I’m like are y’all serious? Are y’all serious? Y’all can’t play basketball Tuesdays in a row for $60 million?” he said

Well, a new hope has been lit, as Joel Embiid’s double double steals the show. In the latest matchup between the Philadelphia 76ers and Brooklyn Nets, Embiid was dominant. The veteran player had a thunderous 28 points and 12 rebounds to lead the team to a 123-94 victory over the Nets. Just like Burd hinted, many fans took to social media to praise Embiid. Others doubled down on how he is one of the best when he is healthy.
The Nets had already lost 12 out of their last 16 games. Ziaire Williams scored 19 points to elevate the team, while Keon Johnson helped with 15 points, but it wasn’t enough to defeat the 76ers. Embiid had his squad’s help. Paul George delivered a strong 17 points, four rebounds, and six assists, placing the team at 14-19. Tyrese Maxey hit 18 points. The 76ers will be facing the Phoenix Suns next.
