Ever since the NHL team, Ottawa Senators officially announced their team is up for new ownership last November, several parties have expressed their keenness to buy the team. With the tech expert and Los Angeles-based entrepreneur, Neko Sparks readying his bid to buy the team, Senators could become the first-ever team owned by people of color.
Besides, this buyout could be a huge plus to the team as Sparks’ media company, Pixel Lime is already associated with the Senators working on digital innovations. The NHL team was last sold in 2003 for $92 million, while the current consortium is willing to bid a whopping $950 million for the franchise.

The battle for ownership gained momentum after the passing of Melnyk, the Senator’s former owner. Driven by passion and commitment, the late Eugene Melnyk has owned the team since 2003. Aged 62, his sudden demise in March 2022 left the team with a void to be filled by a visionary to take the team to greater heights.
