Shelton acknowledged that his girlfriend’s success has put pressure on him to perform at a higher level. Hall, a heptathlete, won the bronze medal at the track and field world championships in Eugene, Oregon in July 2022.
Shelton had followed her performances on his phone while playing in a Challenger competition that same week in Indianapolis. He underlines that he is not the better athletic of the two, even though he has dominated her in pickleball.

During his interview with the New York Times, Shelton shared, “She’s outshining me.”
Shelton’s coach, Goldfine also chimed in, saying, “It’s great. Because they challenge each other, and she understands what it takes to be at an elite level.”
