Deiveson Figueiredo had a successful surgery as per the coach
Figueiredo‘s coach Maizena has reportedly confirmed that the former champ has successfully completed the procedure needed to fix the broken orbital and nose. The injury was a result of one of Moreno‘s left hands that landed during the third round. Initially, Figueiredo was seen complaining about an eye poke right after the left hand landed.
Corner cams during the rounds revealed the damage as Figueiredo‘s right eye was completely shut. After an inspection by the doctor, the fight was promptly called off.

Figueiredo ended up requiring surgery, and his coach Maizena has now confirmed that the Brazilian will slowly return to training a month later.
Figueiredo expected to move up to 135 pounds
After having fought Brandon Moreno four consecutive times, Figueiredo clearly is looking for a fresh opponent. And this could be one of the reasons why he wants to move up a division. Although, as per Figueiredo, the weight cut has been the major reason for his planned move to bantamweight.

While speaking to Daniel Cormier after the fight, Figueiredo confirmed his plans. “Unfortunately, it’s time to leave this division,” he had stated. While congratulating Moreno, the 35-year-old also mentioned his achievements in the flyweight division. “I’ve done a lot. Congratulations to Brandon, but I’m moving up,” claimed Figueiredo.
Will Deiveson Figueiredo find success in the Bantamweight division? Although he has achieved everything a fighter can ask for at Flyweight, a move up to Bantamweight will clearly be a whole new challenge. With the likes of Petr Yan, and Sean O’Malley already vying for the contender spot it might be a tough climb for Figueiredo at 135 pounds.

To add to that, the news of Aljamain Sterling and Henry Cejudo fighting in May is also doing the rounds, there is no doubt that ‘Deus da Guerra’s arrival will shake things up.
