After two fun seasons of “The Athletic Hockey Show,” you can expect even more out of Season 3.
From the East Coast to the West, the U.S. to Canada, our hosts cover every inch (or centimetre) of the NHL landscape. Each week will now include five or six fresh episodes, featuring some of The Athletic’s most plugged-in writers, both national and local – plus, Down Goes Brown.
MONDAY: Get your week started with Ian Mendes, Julian McKenzie, and occasionally Mark Lazerus, as they set the stage for the week in hockey. The crew will cover the top headlines from over the weekend, usually featuring your favorite The Athletic NHL writers, wrapping each episode up with their favorite “Multiple Choice Madness” questions
TUESDAY: “The American Show,” hosted by Craig Custance and Sean Gentille, will do weekly interviews and big-picture conversations with the league’s biggest players and executives. From Johnny Gaudreau to Paul Maurice, you’ll hear from the people hockey fans want to hear from.
WEDNESDAY: The Weekly Roundtable, featuring the CBC’s Rob Pizzo, Jesse Granger, Michael Russo and a variety of guests, will cover the hottest topics from around the NHL and close things out with a Rapid Fire segment.
THURSDAY: On Thursdays, Ian Mendes will be joined by Sean “Down Goes Brown” McIndoe to discuss the week’s biggest stories through a comedic and historical lens, including their segment, “This Week in Hockey History.” The guys will also bring on The Athletic’s Golden Knights writer Jesse Granger to go over his favorite NHL picks in his “Granger Things.”
FRIDAY MORNING: Hailey Salvian moves later in this week this season and, alongside co-host Sean Gentille, will look back on the week in hockey, as well as break down the latest in women’s hockey. You’ll also get a fair amount of Dom Luszczyszyn on Fridays, while he and Sean break down their weekly power rankings and the trio chats analytical trends across the league.
FRIDAY AFTERNOON: No one covers the NHL Draft quite like The Athletic, and to show that, on select Fridays throughout the season, Max Bultman, Corey Pronman and FloHockey’s Chris Peters will bring you their weekly “Prospect Series.” The trio will talk prospect rankings, NHL Draft previews and recaps, mocks drafts, prospect tournament news and notes, and more.
You should also make sure you check out The Athletic’s selection of local shows! If you’re in Chicago or Columbus, New York or Minneapolis, Toronto, Montreal or Vancouver, you’ll get updates from your favorite writers every week.
