BIG RAPIDS – The Ferris State University women’s tennis squad posted another big win on Sunday as the Bulldogs topped visiting Findlay by a 6-1 score in non-league regional action at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center.
Ferris State climbed to 5-1 overall this year with the win, which came on the heels of a 5-2 regional road victory at Hillsdale on Friday evening.
The Bulldogs took two of three doubles flights for the initial point and won the top five singles flights to garner the victory over the Oilers.
“Two of our last three wins have been over teams that beat us a year ago, so it feels really good to get off to a hot start,” said FSU head coach Mark Doren.
In Sunday’s win, the Bulldog tandem of Morgan Waller and Parker Nolan produced a 6-4 triumph at two doubles with Sophie Daavettila and Amelia Laverdiere teaming up for a 6-1 decision at the third flight.
The Bulldogs then proceeded to notch wins at the first thru five singles spots in the lineup with the Oilers’ lone victory at the sixth flight. FSU captured two singles wins in straight-sets while pulling out third-set wins at one, four and five singles.
The win also lifted FSU to a 3-1 overall mark at home this year.
Ferris State will hit the road for two regional road tests next weekend as the Bulldogs visit Tiffin on Friday and Walsh on Saturday in Ohio.

The Ferris State University men’s tennis squad capped off another successful weekend of action as the Bulldogs notched a 6-1 regional triumph over Findlay on Saturday at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center.
FSU posted its second regional win in as many days, coming on the heels of a 7-0 road sweep over Hillsdale on Friday afternoon.
In Saturday’s match, the Bulldogs took all three doubles flights for the initial point in the contest and then won five of the six singles positions en route to the win. The lone Findlay victory came at five singles in three-set fashion.
Overall, all six Bulldogs factored into the final team score with at least one win on the day.
Ferris State improved to 4-1 overall this year with the victory.
The Bulldogs will return to action on the road this coming week, visiting Tiffin on Friday (Feb. 17) and Walsh on Saturday (Feb. 18) for a pair of regional tilts in Ohio.
