The hostile tension between former NBA player Kwame Brown and well-known NBA analyst Stephen A. Smith was hard for fans to miss. The feud between Brown and Smith has been going on since the former entered the league. In May 2021, the duo was involved in yet another verbal spat. Brown has been the primary target for Smith’s criticism for a very long time.

Kwame Brown joined the NBA through the 2001 NBA Draft. The Washington Wizards selected the six-foot-eleven-inch player as the first overall pick. When you are chosen as the first pick, there are certain expectations that you need to live up to.

However, Brown failed miserably and could only manage to score an average of 6.6 points and 5.5 rebounds. Since then, Brown had to bear criticisms from several people, including Smith who began referring to him as a ‘scrub’. After years of enduring criticisms, Brown finally broke his silence and challenged Smith.

While Kwame Brown was on Instagram Live, the former Washington Wizards player called out Smith, referring to him as the ‘gatekeeper of disrespect’. Furthermore, Brown went on to issue a challenge to Smith to a combat!
“Stephen A., you bald forehead thinking you tough. Saying all kind of s*** like, ‘Oh, he can come see me.’ In Seattle, you ain’t gotta sign no waiver. Meet me in Seattle where you can have mutual combat and talk like that. I’ll slap…it’ll look like you gotta toupee on the front of your head how hard I’ll slap the back of your head motherf*****.” said Brown referring to Smith.

After the video went viral, the Twitterati asked for Stephen A. Smith’s response to Kwame Brown’s threat. However, the NBA analyst said that he had no desire to respond to the former NBA star. Smith stated that he was not willing to waste his time and that Brown had every right to say what he wanted. While the controversy gradually died down, Brown made the headlines again when he made his stance clear on the Draymond Green-Jordan Poole dispute.
In a video, Brown talked about the incident, saying that he has seen fights like that all the time. Furthermore, he stated that he has played with Charles Oakley who would slap someone every other day. According to Brown, letting the public judge the fight is a ‘bad thing’ for Green, explaining that the public wouldn’t understand that it was just another day at the office.
