The Los Angeles Lakers managed to turn their fortunes around in the last month of the NBA season. While LeBron James deserves a lot of credit for it, the rest of the team too deserve their flowers for holding down the fort in his absence. It has been about three years since the Lakers won their last championship and now it looks like another Western Conference team may be taking a page out of their book from their championship year.
The last time the Los Angeles Lakers won a championship was in 2020. The team made some big trades to send their future picks to other teams in order to go all in so that the Lakers could win their 17th championship. Three years later, the team is completely different with new pieces throughout the roster.

It is usually LeBron James and Anthony Davis that come to mind when thinking about the Lakers’ last championship. But a huge chunk of praise should also go to their former head coach, Frank Vogel.

Frank Vogel did an amazing job as the head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers in his first season. He not only led the team to an NBA championship in his first year, but the Lakers also had the best record in the Western Conference.
Due to having the best season record in the West in 2019-20, Vogel was also named the head coach for the West All-Stars in the All-Star game. Now, according to reports from Adrian Wojnarowski, the Houston Rockets are most likely to hire Frank Vogel in order to replace their departing head coach, Paul Silas.
The $3.2 billion worth Rockets finished this season with the worst record in the West, tied with the San Antonio Spurs. As per Woj, Vogel’s interview with the Rockets’ front office went very well, and he will be brought back for a second interview with the front office.

The Houston Rockets had one of the worst records in the NBA this season and rightfully so, given that the team is in rebuilding mode. The team has great young pieces that the franchise can bank upon.
Frank Vogel is known for his defensive IQ which can majorly help Houston. The Rockets possess players who have no problem creating offense for themselves. So, bringing over Vogel will surely bolster them on the defensive end of the floor.
