For the past decade, Rory McIlroy has been the face of the PGA Tour. Following the foundation of LIV Golf, he has become the voice of the Tour against the Saudi-funded golf league. Nonetheless, McIlroy’s relationship with the PGA Tour hasn’t been the same in recent months. After being fined $3 million last month for his absence from RBC Heritage, the golfer might face another exorbitant fine for his loyalty.
The designated events have been among the many changes made in the American Tour to outclass the lucrative Tour. According to the term, 17 events in the PGA Tour season will have more prize money with an average of $20 million expected purses. However, every golfer is only allowed to miss a single event from the rest of the season.
While Rory missed the Tournament of Champions, which was the first elevated event, he was reportedly fined $3 million from his Player Impact Program earnings for missing RBC Heritage last month. Nonetheless, the Northern Irish star is set to miss another elevated event this weekend which could further inflate his list of fines.

Another PGA Tour event without Rory McIlroy?
After starting his 2022-23 seals with a win at CJ Cup, McIlroy has been decent on the course. However, it all went downhill at Augusta National for the former world number one, as he missed the cut at the Masters. Following his disappointing performance, Rory decided to avoid competing at the RBC Heritage later in April.
Nonetheless, earlier today, a nine-player list of players scheduled for a press conference ahead of the Well Fargo Championship in Charlotte was released. While the list included Justin Thomas, Tony Finau, Max Homa and many other talented golfers, the Northern Irish star was nowhere to be found.

With Rory McIlroy already being punished by taking away $3 million from his PIP earnings later in the year for missing more than one elevated event, he is set to face further consequences for his absence. Nonetheless, the golfer was confirmed by the RBC Canadian Open to compete in June with the hope of winning the event for a third consecutive year.
Hours after the exciting update, the McIlroy stans are again worried about the golfer. As more players are yet to be announced for the PGA Tour event this year. Hopefully, the golfer may be included in one of that lists.
