The AT&T Byron Nelson returns to TPC Craig Ranch this year when the tournament begins on Thursday morning. World No. 2 Scottie Scheffler headlines the 2023 AT&T Byron Nelson field after skipping the Wells Fargo Championship. He has two wins and just one finish outside the top 12 this season, making him the clear 9-2 favorite in the 2023 AT&T Byron Nelson odds at Caesars Sportsbook. Jordan Spieth (9-1), Tyrrell Hatton (14-1) and Jason Day (18-1) are the other top 2023 AT&T Byron Nelson contenders.
Spieth finished as the runner-up at the AT&T Byron Nelson last year and has five top-10s already this season. Should you include Spieth in your 2023 AT&T Byron Nelson bets? Before locking in your 2023 AT&T Byron Nelson picks, be sure to see the golf predictions and projected leaderboard from the proven computer model at SportsLine.
Our proprietary model, built by DFS pro Mike McClure, has been red-hot since the PGA Tour resumed in June of 2020. In fact, the model is up over $8,400 on its best bets since the restart, nailing tournament after tournament.
McClure’s model predicted Jon Rahm would finish on top of the leaderboard at the 2023 Sentry Tournament of Champions and The American Express. And at the 2023 Masters, the model was all over Rahm’s second career major victory heading into the weekend. Rahm was two strokes off the lead heading into the third round, but the model still projected him as the winner.
In addition, the model included Nick Hardy and Davis Riley in its best bets to win the 2023 Zurich Classic. That bet hit at +4500, and for the entire tournament, McClure’s best bets returned over $1,100. McClure’s best bets also included J.T. Poston winning outright at the 2022 John Deere Classic, even though he was listed as a massive 55-1 longshot.
This same model has also nailed a whopping nine majors entering the weekend. Anyone who has followed it has seen massive returns.
Now that the 2023 AT&T Byron Nelson field is locked, SportsLine simulated the tournament 10,000 times, and the results were surprising. Head to SportsLine now to see the projected leaderboard.
Top 2023 AT&T Byron Nelson predictions
One major surprise the model is calling for at the AT&T Byron Nelson 2023: K.H. Lee, the two-time defending champion, stumbles this week and barely cracks the top 10. Lee joined elite company last year when he successfully defended his AT&T Bryon Nelson title, joining Sam Snead, Jack Nicklaus and Tom Watson as the only golfers to do so in the tournament’s history.
He can become the 10th man since World War II to win an event on the PGA Tour three straight years, but the model is not high on his chances. Lee has struggled with consistency this season, finishing outside the top 20 in 12 tournaments. He also ranks 91st in putts per round (28.76) and 97th in one-putt percentage (40.30%), which does not bode well against several elite golfers in the 2023 AT&T Byron Nelson field.
Another surprise: Adam Scott, a 35-1 longshot, makes a strong run at the title. He is entering this tournament with momentum following his best result of the season, finishing tied for fifth at the Wells Fargo Championship. Scott shot 11-under par and was just four strokes back of second-place Xander Schauffele.
He was the No. 1 golfer in the world for several months in 2014 and has won 14 PGA Tour events during his career. Scott most recently won the 2020 Genesis Invitational, so he is hungry for another victory. This is a softer field than he is used to playing against, making him a value bet after his strong showing last week at the Wells Fargo Championship. See who else to pick here.
