After The Ultimate Fighter season 31 aired, the MMA world could not contain their excitement for Conor McGregor fighting Michael Chandler. However, former UFC fighter, Chael Sonnen, has repeatedly provided the world with proof that the much-anticipated fight between the two might not come to reality.
Sonnen took to ‘Bad Guy Inc’, his YouTube talk show, and revealed why he thought that the fight between McGregor and Chandler might not happen. He previously justified his stand on the fight being nothing but a rumor, taking McGregor’s strife with USADA into account. This time, he gave an instance where Dana White, McGregor, and Chandler were asked about the weight class for the fight. Surprisingly, the world received three different answers to the same question. The UFC Hall of Famer seemed to believe that the fight between the TUF 31 coaches was in jeopardy.

Sonnen appeared to be truly disappointed. He expressed his excitement about the fight between McGregor and Chandler numerous times. However, fate seems to have unique plans for the fighters. Sonnen provided an instance where the UFC president, ‘The Notorious, and ‘Iron’ were asked about the weight class of the fight and the answers differed for all three of them.
Sonnen said, “You have Conor himself saying I haven’t gotten around to doing the paperwork. You got USADA saying we’re gonna fight, we’re gonna fight but we’re gonna do it this way which is in 180 days. You got Chael over here saying there’s nothing about this fight that looks like you’re fighting. There’s three people, talk about the boss, Chandler and Conor. All three of them, they weren’t together. They weren’t together. They were interview, phone call, interview, and asked what weight class they were fighting at. Three different answers.”
Thereafter, he declared that there was nothing about the bout that felt like the fight was happening, as per Sonnen. He opined, “There’s nothing about this that feels like a fight. Now if you still think it’s gonna happen and red panty night is real, you better believe that it is.”
The UFC legend offered his reasoning behind why the fight might not materialize.
