The Carolina Panther are not having the season they’d hoped for. After acquiring the 2018 overall number-one pick, Baker Mayfield, the Panthers demoted him to the role of the backup quarterback. That left PJ Walker to take the reins. In their last game, the Panthers faced the biggest points deficit in franchise history at 0-35 against the Cincinnati Bengals. Baker Mayfield replaced PJ Walker on the field and was, fortunately, able to put on a better performance.

The quarterback was back on the field for the first time since the Panthers’ Week 5 loss against the San Francisco 49ers. While the Panthers still lost to the Bengals, they were able to dodge the humiliation of leaving the field without any points on the board.

Baker Mayfield attempted to save face
PJ Walker could not have had a worse first half. Thankfully, Mayfield stepped up to the role. On his first drive, Mayfield threw an 8-yard touchdown to tight end, Tommy Tremble. During the game, Mayfield completed 14 out of 20 passes and two touchdowns.

But others disagreed. One fan said that Mayfield was playing against backups.
One fan cannot believe the praise Mayfield is receiving.

One user has had enough.
Fans seem to be unimpressed by Mayfield’s performance. But beggars can’t be choosers. Given their current quarterback crisis, some points on the board do sound a lot better than no points on the board.

The Panthers are set to face the Atlanta Falcons in their next game. The important question is, who will lead their offense against the Falcons? Currently, at 2-7, the Panthers will need to take their offense into consideration and make decisions that will win them games.

Interim coach Steve Wilkis says that he has no answer regarding that matter. He said, “I couldn’t tell you right now, we’ll be able to sit here and look at a few things and talk to the staff, and I’ll have that answer here soon.”

The Panthers are currently ranked at the bottom of the NFC South behind the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Atlanta Falcons and New Orleans Saints. Panthers fans will hope that their team resolves their quarterback crisis and find some semblance of an offensive strategy before their next game.
