Different milestones just keep coming for Novak Djokovic. The Serbian tennis maestro has already cemented his place as one of the greatest players in tennis history. With an all-time 24 Grand Slam titles record, he has unparalleled achievements across three different surfaces. And now, despite his 2025 Australian Open setback, Djokovic continues to break records. And just today, he made another one.
Just before the Australian Open Semifinals, Djokovic was grappling with a nagging groin injury. This resulted in him finishing the quarterfinal match with tape on his upper left leg against Carlos Alcaraz. Further, the same injury forced him to retire after the first set against Alexander Zverev in the semifinals. It marked a rare moment of vulnerability for the Serbian star.
After the match, he shared an MRI scan, nagging the sports ‘experts’ out there. The MRI showed a big tear in the deep part of the hamstring, which could take time to get better. However, this loss didn’t impact his ATP rankings. He moved up one spot to settle at world No. 6 now, but this wasn’t the only milestone he achieved.

Moving past the Australian Open disappointment, Novak Djokovic reached another incredible milestone. Author and content creator Bastien Fachan shared an extraordinary fact about him on X, “Today is Novak Djokovic’s 1000th consecutive week in the top 100, per @JeuSetMaths 🤯 (1022 weeks in reality, minus the 22 weeks the ATP rankings were frozen during the pandemic).” Djokovic first broke into the ATP Top 100 in 2006 after clinching his first ATP title. Now, almost two decades later, at 37 years old, he remains one of the most dominant figures.

For Djokovic, records are not just numbers, they are a reflection of his resilience and ability to stay at the pinnacle of the sport. His 1000 consecutive weeks in the ATP Top 100, with such unmatched consistency, he continues to solidify his status. Being one of the greatest players in tennis history.
Novak Djokovic’s unbreakable records
Notably, Djokovic is still the only player without a losing Head2Head record against any of the current ATP top 25 ranked players. Further, Novak Djokovic spent a record 428 weeks as world No. 1, surpassing tennis great Rodger Federer’s record of 237 consecutive weeks on top. He also holds the record for most year-end No.1 finishes, achieving the feat eight times including pandemic-affected seasons.

The Serbian star reached another peak by winning his third French Open title. It made him the first male player in tennis history to achieve a triple-career Grand Slam. Djokovic has made another legacy with a record 40 ATP MAsters 1000 titles. In addition to this, he is one of only two male players to win three Grand Slams in a single year. He accomplished this twice, in 2011 and 2021. His historic season in 2011 had victories over Andy Murray at the Australian Open and Rafael Nadal in both the Wimbledon and US Open finals. In 2021, Djokovic repeated the same feat but narrowly missed out on a calendar Grand Slam, falling short in the US Open final.
Novak Djokovic’s retirement from the Australian Open semifinals may have been a moment of disappointment, but it cannot overshadow his monumental achievements. Even as he battles his injuries and faces younger rivals, his legacy remains unshakable, cementing him as an icon in tennis history.
