Unclear on Looming Retirement, Kevin Harvick Speeds Up Racing Vocabulary of Son Keelan

Kevin Harvick has been in the sport for two decades plus now, and many have been speculating about the duration of time left for the veteran in the sport. While nothing is clear about his retirement plans yet, he recently indulged in teaching his son the tricks of the trade.

Harvick shared a video showing his son driving a car around a track. The SHR driver captioned, “Today we teach @KeelanHarvick how to shift on a road course!”

It is great to see Harvick preparing his next generation, maybe to carry the Harvick name into the future of NASCAR. Keelan is barely 10 years old at this point in time and still has a lot of time ahead of him. But it is in these crucial years that he must learn the ropes of the sport. And who better to learn from than his own father? Also, Harvick’s son has already achieved quite a lot of accolades in the racing scene already. Sure, that points towards a promising future, but it still is too early to say so.
However, while he teaches his son the basics of racing, his own future in the sport remains under the shadows.
The road ahead for Kevin Harvick

Kevin Harvick has confirmed that he will race in the 2023 season, but what happens beyond that? Does he remain in the sport, or does he finally retire?

During a recent interview, Harvick said, “I don’t really have a clear answer on that right now.” He further added, “I think as we get to Daytona, I know 100% that we will have a direction…” He also mentioned how there was no way that he’d start a season without the knowledge of the future season.

Harvick has already completed 22 seasons in the Cup Series, and with his 2023 campaign that would be his 23rd season. Time is running out for the 46-year-old.
