“Best part of the league to me the second half.” Kevin Garnett, on his podcast, spoke about the post All-Star weekend, and how teams lock it up. In that episode, KG highlighted multiple teams that can make waves during the second half of the season, specifically highlighting the Lakers and the Warriors. His call about the Purple and Gold came true. So let’s check his comments about the Dub Nation.
“The Warriors are going to make a big push, I think. Steph Curry coming off MVP, you know all-star game being in the Bay. I think the Warriors are going to have a surge of energy.” The Celtics legend expressed how the momentum and personal victory in the Golden State would help the Warriors. Plus, he harped on Chef Curry’s teammates’ comments during the All-Star weekend, which dived the internet.
“I don’t know if you all saw but Draymond threw out there that they were gonna win the NBA Championship this year, so he’s seeing something that’s revived not only him, but the rest of his teammates. So they got to play under that pressure.” Green was pretty bullish about the team’s chances for the playoffs.

The team currently occupies the play-in position, being 9th on the table after the win over the Mavs. They are on a 2-0 streak since the break, but both those wins have been blowout victories, so maybe Kevin Garnett might be right about the Warriors.

Previously, he correctly called out the Lakers and their momentum after the break. “But I really think that if the Lakers are going to be taken serious they got to come out and they got to hit. They got to come out with like a lightning bolt and these first five 10 games going to be going to be everything.” He picked the Purple and Gold for the win against the Nuggets, despite the latter having 13 wins in 14 games against the Lakers.

Can Kevin Garnett’s prediction about the Warriors come true?
The Golden State began the season with a very hot streak. At the beginning, they were 12-3 and were atop the Western Conference, albeit for only a brief moment. Since then, the downfall and the struggles followed, and at one stage, the Dub Nation even was the 12th seed. But the knight and shining armor for them turned out to be Jimmy Butler. Ever since he made his debut, the Warriors are on a 5-1 streak. It’s not just Kevin Garnett who heard the Green speech, even Curry gave his thoughts about being a contender.
“I’m excited, I got Draymond on the telecast guaranteeing we’re winning a championship. I love the expectations and having something to play for. He’s lighting a fire, for sure…” Chef Curry seems to agree with his teammate, and even the newest superstar Butler spoke about their chances. “I don’t pay attention to social (media), so I didn’t know that (Green) said that. But we do have a chance.”

Currently, they are the 9th seed with a 30-27 record. The Clippers who occupy the final spot of the playoffs are marginally better with a 31-26 record. Let’s not forget, they are on a three-game losing streak. So, if the Curry-Butler duo continues to dominate, they might secure a better position, and Kevin Garnett’s prediction might come true again.
