Aren’t family vacations usually about relaxation and bonding? That may well be the case for the average person. But for the ever-competitive Serena Williams, they are an opportunity to nurture greatness. Even when the world’s most celebrated tennis star is off the court, her fighting spirit remains intact—especially when it comes to her elder daughter, Olympia. Recently, Williams’ husband Alexis Ohanian shared a glimpse of their family dynamics with a cheeky four-word reaction that had the fraternity chuckling. While Williams set her sights on cultivating Olympia’s tennis skills, Ohanian’s playful comment revealed the humor and balance that defines their partnership. Together they show how they dedicatedly try to bring out the best in their daughters.
The Williams-Ohanian family is enjoying their much-deserving holiday break. Last year, she shared many photos from her family trip, enjoying beautiful outdoor views and striking some great poses. The WTA legend shot some photos in front of a scenic island in the backdrop and wrote, “When someone tells you to ‘go take a hike …” Although Williams didn’t reveal the name of her place, her photos on a wooden footbridge, on a cliff that overlooked a stunning water body, and sitting on a wooden bench surrounded by lavish greens hinted to her followers that she might be in the Bahamas. But this year, the legend kept her holiday break limited to doing what she loves doing the most – playing tennis.
The WTA legend shared a video on X where she was seen hitting balls on a tennis court. Although it wasn’t seen in the video who she was playing against, her shots showed that she still had that old charm. “Staying fit on vacation,” she captioned her video. On the other side, her husband shared their first-born Olympia’s brilliance in golf as she hit a perfect shot. As soon as Ohanian dropped the video with a simple “GM” message for his followers, one person commented how Olympia’s dress offered more tennis vibes than golf. In this comment’s response, Ohanian dropped an interesting comment, “Tennis practice came first 😏” His words hinted that Olympia’s mother was probably practicing against her daughter. This also revealed how Olympia’s parents are leaving no stone unturned to bring the A game in Olympia’s athleticism.

Serena Williams revealed disappointment over daughter Olympia’s limited interest in tennis
In an interview with People Magazine, Williams revealed that she introduced Olympia to tennis during the Covid-19 pandemic. “Honestly, we started because it’s a socially safe sport, and when Covid happened, it was like: ‘We’re just in the house with a three year old, what do we do?’” she said. After that, Williams and her elder daughter showed up on the tennis court for some time and delighted their followers by sharing regular updates.
However, last year in an interview with Norah O’Donnell, this Grand Slam winner former player said that Olympia “doesn’t actually like to play tennis too much.” She then added, “That’s a little disappointing for me, but she’s actually really good at it. Maybe I can push her into tennis by getting other kids to have a group lesson, I think that’s what I’m gonna do.” Williams’ words echoed her keen wish to see Olympia take the racket sport and carry her legacy forward.
