Boxing Giant Negatively Responds to Floyd Mayweather’s Leak

Boxing fans are too eager to witness the much-awaited Errol Spence Jr. vs. Terence Crawford fight. Crawford is currently 38-0 and holds the WBO World Welterweight title. On the other hand, Errol Spence Jr. is 28-0 and reigns the IBF World, WBA Super World, and the WBC World Welterweight title. The potential clash between the two would witness the unified welterweight champion of the world.

However, in a recent statement, Floyd Mayweather spilled water on fans’ expectations around the Spence-Crawford fight. He said, “As of right now, the Spence-Crawford fight is not happening.”

Following Mayweather’s upsetting statement, FightHype interacted with Stephen Espinoza, the President of Showtime. In a response to Mayweather‘s statement, he said, “I wouldn’t say that. I’m not saying the fight will not happen right now. I’m just saying that these are normal negotiations.”

Further ascribing hope, Espinoza claimed that Crawford vs. Spence Jr. was a fight that everybody wanted and was excited about. He assured FightHype that the fight was ‘under the microscope.’

Although Espinoza wants to see the fight, he cannot make it happen overnight. However, he assured FightHype that progress was being made. He said, “I’m not saying it’s not going to happen. It’s not like six months away, you know, [how] the tour is. Things are happening every day. There’s progress being made every day.”

Espinoza said he thought the fight was still on track. He wished it could happen overnight, but ‘these things’ took time. “I wish it could happen overnight, just like everybody does. These things don’t happen quickly.”
The potential Errol Spence Jr. vs. Terence Crawford fight, if it were to take place, would be one of the biggest fights in boxing. Two unbeaten stars in their prime, clashing to find out the unified welterweight champion of the world. It just would not get any bigger than this.
