Who can forget the bizarre Ty Gibbs Sirius XM ‘Jesus’ comment? After wrecking his own teammate Brandon Jones in Martinsville last year, Ty Gibbs once again found himself amidst a swarm of haters who just couldn’t stand the young driver. Instead of apologizing or explaining his part of the story, the Joe Gibbs Racing driver said, “Jesus was hated first and among all the people. So, that’s a part of it.”
And since then, NASCAR verse has had a myriad of opinions on the self-proclaimed ‘Jesus’ of the sport. But this was not the first time that Gibbs’ actions had drawn criticism from the fans. Back in April 2022, Gibbs ran into Dale Earnhardt Jr’s JR Motorsports driver Sam Mayer who had bumped Gibbs earlier in the race. This contact sent Mayers and Gibbs out of contention and the two got involved in an ugly brawl after the race.
Do Sam Mayer’s recent comments allude to Ty Gibbs?

Almost a year after the incident, Sam Mayer was once again out of contention at Martinsville due to contact with a Joe Gibbs Racing driver. However, this time, it was not Ty Gibbs but Ryan Truex. While there were just 30 laps to go, Truex tried to pass Mayer for the 13th position. But as the nose of his car got into Mayer’s, it spun the Motorsports driver’s #1 Chevy out on the track. And clearly upset by it all, Mayer decided to vent his frustration by flipping a bird at Truex.
In a recent episode of Dirty Mo Media’s Door Bumper Clear, the show’s co-host Casey Boat asked her fellow hosts, “Sam Mayer gives Ryan Truex the bird during the Xfinity Series race and went on to say, ‘I can’t say anything bad about Joe Gibbs Racing drivers. So, I’ll just keep it to myself.’ Brett, spot on, spot off?”
Perplexed by the JR Motorsports driver’s words, Brett Griffin said, “Spot off. Why can’t he say anything bad about them? What’s he scared of?”
This was the moment that set off bursts of laughters as neither the host nor the guests were able to take a breather.

Brett Griffin’s questions were enough for Bubba Wallace’s spotter to bring up some hilarious jokes about NASCAR’s ‘Jesus.’ Answering Griffin’s question, Kraft said, “Getting black eyes. He can beat up again. (laughs)”
Trying to remember the year-old incident, Griffin further asked, “Oh! That’s true. He got his a** beat. Who beat him up?” And right then, with an uncontrollable burst of laughter, Kraft replied, “The Jesus.” To which TJ Majors added, “Baby Jesus.”

Ty Gibbs, the grandson of JGR owner Joe Gibbs, landed several big punches at Sam Mayer after their on-track altercation during last year’s Martinsville race. And eventually, NASCAR imposed a $15,000 fine on Gibbs for bumping Mayer during the cool-down lap in the pit lane.
