Some time ago, NASCAR issued some directives which made it mandatory for drivers to wear fireproof undergarments. Obviously, NASCAR racing is a dangerous sport, as the oft-occurring accidents have proven time and again.
Another big worry is about the prospect of the cars catching fire. Naturally, NASCAR does not want any fatal accidents to occur, hence, has come up with these precautionary measures. Admittedly, there has been a bit of a mixed response, but Chase Elliott doesn’t see what the fuss is all about.
Talking on the Heidi and Frank Morning Show about the undergarments, he said, “Somebody sent me that the other day. Like, making a joke about it. That’s been around, I’m not sure where, maybe it was optional, but most everyone wears all of the fire protection you can get on. So that’s nothing new.

The 2020 Cup Series champion came ever so close to clinching a second Cup title. Instead, he was forced to settle for fourth place, so he will be eager to have another go in 2023. However, the 27-year-old will be wary of the competition, as he knows that the road to the title will not be easy.

On the other end of the scale, if the 2022 season has proven anything, it is that nobody should be underestimated.

That explains why Joey Logano was able to sneak in and snatch the 2022 title from under everyone’s noses. This time around, Elliott will be more motivated than ever. Additionally, NASCAR will be keen to make the sport as safe as possible without compromising on the competitiveness of the races.
