“Booked my flight for the World Cup on the wrong date,” the world number six wrote on a snap of the Doha skyline.
As well as being one of the world’s most exciting tennis prospects, Coco Gauff has an impressive social media following and she loves to create fun content for her followers.
The 18-year-old provides feel-good entertainment across her platforms, including her videos on TikTok which often go viral.
Gauff’s sense of humour always shines through in her social posts, and even during interviews.
That’s why she couldn’t help but make a little joke when she announced she had arrived in Doha for this month’s Qatar Open.

What did Coco Gauff say?
Gauff is set to compete at the WTA 500 event, which gets underway next week.
She uploaded a photo to her Instagram story upon her arrival and just had to slip a joke in there about the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
“Booked my flight for the World Cup on the wrong date,” the world number six wrote on a snap of the Doha skyline, insinuating she is almost three months late to watch the tournament which was held in November.

Of course, this absolutely isn’t the case and Gauff has a competition of her own to attend in Doha.
She will be looking to improve on last year’s result at the Qatar Open, which saw her reach the quarter-finals after beating Shelby Rogers, Carolina Garcia and Paula Badosa.
Gauff was eventually knocked out of the tournament by Maria Sakkari.
She will compete in both the singles and doubles tournaments this year.
How has Coco Gauff been performing?
Gauff is continuing to build up her tennis portfolio on both the singles and doubles stage.
Last year, the 18-year-old reached her first Grand Slam singles final at the French Open, where she lost out to world number one Iga ÅšwiÄ…tek.
She also won three WTA titles with doubles partner Jessica Pegula, including the 2022 Qatar Open. The two will hope to defend their title when the tournament gets underway next week.

Thanks to her form on court, Gauff cracked the top five in singles and is currently ranked second in the world in doubles, behind Pegula.
The start of 2023 has also been a strong one for Gauff after she won the Auckland Open to kickstart her year.
She also reached the fourth round of the Australian Open, beating British number one Emma Raducanu in the process.
