Coco Gauff truly has no time to chill. This WTA star, who is currently buzzing in the United Cup, landed in Perth right after Christmas. Despite the hectic travel, Gauff won all three of her singles matches in the tournament leading her Team USA into the semifinals. Now, with Sydney gearing up to host the Semi Finals on January 4th, the American is grinding in practice. Less than two hours after arriving at the semis venue, she hit the courts. How did Team USA clinch the spot in the semis? World No. 3 Coco Gauff battled Zhang Shuai to a gritty 7-6(4), 6-2 victory, setting the tone for Team USA’s United Cup quarterfinal win. Taylor Fritz followed up with a dominant 6-4, 6-4 win over Zhang Zhizhen, securing an unassailable 2-0 lead for the Americans. Desirae Krawczyk and Robert Galloway clinched the sweep in mixed doubles, defeating Zhang Shuai and Sun Fajing 6-3, 6-7(1), 10-3.
On Friday, the former US Open champion shared a picture of the courts and wrote, “Post 24hr + travel day hit.” Moreover, Gauff shared the United Cup’s IG reel in which she was captured practicing with her colleague and mixed doubles partner Taylor Fritz. “Touchdown in Sydney ✈️@cocogauff and @taylor_fritz prep for their Semifinal appearance together after arriving in Sydney! #UnitedCup,” captioned the page. This reel was shared by Gauff on her IG stories with a caption. “land at 5:30… courts at 7″ she wrote, highlighting her hectic tennis life in one sentence.

In 2023, she shared a social media post, dropping photos from her anticipated culinary lessons. Although this activity was long on her list, she had to reschedule her classes due to the demands of her tennis career. “I had fun training so I can pretend to be a chef in the bear lol. can’t wait to use what I learned and make food for my family! thank you @stephan.dalsoglio for the gift. and thank you @thecookingclubhouse for letting us reschedule a million times because of my match schedule:)”
Gauff’s schedule can be pretty demanding, but she knows how to take her time out for family.
Coco Gauff’s “reality” in tennis helps her to find a “balance” between family and career

In an interview with People Magazine last year, Gauff admitted that a hectic tennis schedule didn’t bother her much because she thinks “it’s just finding a balance.” Gauff also added, “I also think because I started so young that it just feels like my reality. It doesn’t feel like I’m missing things because it’s always been my reality.” Gauff overpowered her idol Venus Williams in Wimbledon’s first round in 2019 when she was just 15.
However, this former US Open champion admitted that she does “feel homesick and feel overwhelmed.” Then how does she manage to stay connected to friends and family? Well, Gauff had the perfect answer for it.
“But I am thankful that my parents are able to travel with me a lot, so they help a lot. Every now and then, some of my friends will be able to pop in for a couple of days before a tournament or something. My boyfriend, he’ll probably come to maybe some tournaments in the U.S. It’s just a little bit easier than coming to Europe,” she said.
