The 2024 season is knocking at the door. So what!? That doesn’t stop Colorado Buffaloes HC Deion Sanders from dropping in to share some fun facts. While Coach Prime was mentoring the Buffs, he took some time off to face the camera. When fans were expecting news about their plan, Deion spilled some information about the Arizona Cardinals’ legend J.J. Watt. The Buffs HC could not help but obsess over Watt’s two-way skills.
Unsurprisingly, he highlighted this particular skill of the NFL legend. After all, his program now nourishes another dual threat, Travis Hunter. Does this mean Hunter now has another legend to look up to?

On August 13, the unapologeticallybuffs page posted some scenes from the Buffs preseason camp. Sporting his iconic look with a cowboy “PRIME” hat and sunglasses, Deion faced the camera held by his son Deion Sanders Jr. With the CU graduate assistant, Warren Sapp by his side, Coach Prime took the role of enlightening others by pointing out how owning two-way qualities in football is very rare. And how could the Buffs HC resist from not mentioning the legend, Watt?

Deion then shared some fun NFL facts for the fans, “We’re the few… JJ Watt is one of us, that played both ways, who actually scored touchdowns.” During his stint with the Houston Texans, Watt started as a defensive end. However, playing as a defensive player did not stop Watt from playing 13 offensive snaps from 2014-15. Besides, he caught three touchdowns near the goal line for Houston against the Cleveland Browns, Las Vegas Raiders, and Tennessee Titans. Watt led the Texans with 14 ½ sacks paired with 41 quarterback hits. With this, he seems to have left a deep mark on Deion’s heart. So much so that Coach Prime now anchors his quote to boost the players’ morale.
Coach Prime relies on Watt’s quote to boost Hunter
Even though the Buffs HC puts up his bravest version in front of the Buffs, deep down the 2023 season wounds continue to nudge him a little. This season Deion is all set to flip the script and among his top warriors are his son Shedeur and dual-threat Hunter. And at the beginning of the year, the Buffs HC instilled high values within them. Back in February, Coach Prime dropped some knowledge at an event organized by VSG Entertainment. While he addressed the crowd he used a quote to keep the listeners hooked. However, true NFL fans cracked the quote code in no time.

Deion opened with, “Some people chase money. Some people chase fame. Some chase greatness – and that’s what I’m trying to do,” borrowing from Watt’s statement. Coach Prime then followed up with his own spin to add weight to Watt’s words, “If you chase greatness, the money is going to come, don’t chase the money. Because greatness don’t come just because of the money. The money comes because of the greatness.”
Deion has something big playing at the back of his mind. Before the 2024 season kicks in, he did not just randomly drop in Watt’s name. Instead, this was all part of his master scheme to crank up the motivation of his multi-talented marvel, Hunter.
