Jorge Masvidal is making a highly anticipated return to the UFC amidst his ongoing legal battle for allegedly assaulting former friend and fellow fighter Colby Covington. Despite the turmoil, “Gamebred” remains determined to make his mark in the octagon. Masvidal has announced that his return to UFC 287 will be against the Brazilian fighter, Gilbert Burns, in his hometown of Miami.
Masvidal believes that this fight in Miami is a sign from the universe that he should aim for the stars, and he is not one to ignore such signals. The fighter’s sights are set on a potential title shot after his bout with Burns, but fans have dismissed his vision as a pipe dream, raining down severe criticism on ‘Gamebred’. Despite the naysayers, Masvidal is determined to prove them wrong and is ready to fight tooth and nail for his shot at the top.

Jorge Masvidal, the Miami-native mixed martial artist, is currently facing a rough patch in his career, with a 3-fight losing streak. His last win dates back to November 2019, which is why fans were suspicious when he recently announced his hopes of securing a potential title shot soon.
During a recent interview, Masvidal talked about it and stated, “It’s like all the stars are aligning, and the universe is giving me this. It wants me to go through this. You’ll see the battle that I will give to my people.” But some fans couldn’t follow up with Masvidal’s vision and were skeptical of his ability to bounce back.
Check out how the fans reacted to Jorge Masvidal’s claims:
“Dreams? How about “delusions?””
““Masvidal” and “title run” should no longer be used in the same sentence unless speaking in past tense.
“He didn’t even deserve his previous title shots how is he close to another?”
“He’s gonna get thumped in front of his home crowd. It’s the beginning of the real end for Masvidal. He’s 38, hasn’t won a fight since Nov 19’, if he loses he might fight one more time.”
“Unless he comes as a completely different fighter, he’s not making it past Burns.”
“Gatekeeper at best. Except for the made up title they gave him.”
“He’s got a better chance at a title run in powerslap”
Having said that, ‘Gamebred’ believes that he can not only get a title shot but can also succeed in his pursuit.
Jorge Masvidal is aiming for a double knockout
Jorge Masvidal has faced considerable backlash for setting his sights high in the UFC, but he is unwavering in his belief that he can back up his words. The fighter is certain that he will prevail in his upcoming matchup with Gilbert Burns, and he has already set his sights on the reigning welterweight champion Leon Edwards.

In the same interview. ‘Gamebred’ said, “There’s a lot of factors that need to take place – but that’s the plan,” He added, “All the stars need to align again. I’d go to the U.K. again because I’d like to give him a beating in his own backyard. I’m going to take his head off, and that’s it. That’s what I envision every day.”

However, the Miami native sees no problem in being optimistic and having faith in his abilities, even in the face of adversity. The 38-year-old said, “Why not have faith in something? I have a lot of faith. I have a lot of knowledge on Gilbert and Leon. If you ask me, I beat both.”
