Gilbert Arenas and Nick Young are friendship goals. But Young might disagree. From being Uncle Gil with the mean humor to his kids to picking on every little achievement in his career, Young’s former Washington Wizards teammate gives him reason to sleep with an eye open. They realistically don’t have a beef but Agent Zero is sort of pushing it.

In the 2024 edition of Gibby vs Swaggy P, the ‘No Chill Gil’ (an appropriate username) Instagram page had unexpected activity on February 2. Arenas took a break from his many media responsibilities to attend a game at Cleveland High School in California. He acquired video evidence that one of its famous alums, Nick Young, is not as memorable as he boasts.
“@swaggyp1 How can u claim the KING of the valley BUT ur highschool team dont even have ur jersey RETIRED 😂😂😂 🗣️Imma start a GO FUND ME to get ur jersey retired becuz 2006-2024 (NOT RETIRED 🥱) means u was AZZ.” All that was missing was a mic drop. Arenas himself was taunting him in the video with statements like, “where you at boy,” “I thought you was a man at Cleveland,” and “ain’t nobody know you here.”

Both Young and Arenas grew up in San Fernando Valley. Arenas went to Ulysses S. Grant High School, which would’ve been Cleveland’s rival. Arenas wore the #25 jersey during his high school career. When the Golden State Warriors selected him in 2001, Grant High retired his number that same year. The Washington Wizards have unofficially retired the iconic #0 as well.

Young, who gets to boast a championship title with the Warriors, cannot relate. He hasn’t responded but maybe Cleveland High could silence Gibby.

Gibby vs Swaggy P, the punchline
Here’s the fun bit. Arenas was actually there cheering for his son. Alijah Arenas is on the Chatsworth High School basketball team. Chatsworth was playing against Cleveland and you’d catch a glimpse or two of him in the video. Alijah hit the game-tying 3-pointer to send the game into overtime. Arenas showed off that moment on his Instagram Stories with pride.
The boastful Arenas was silenced at the end of the game after Cleveland beat Chatsworth in overtime to win the West Valley League title. In a game that ended 74-69 in Young’s alma mater’s favor, Alijah Arenas finished with 23 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists.

Not too disheartened by the defeat, Alijah was in the comments of his dad’s post roasting Young. He had a series of laughing emojis in response. Hilarious as it is, we hope Nick Young invites Gilbert Arenas when Cleveland (possibly) retires his jersey.
