In the book, “Queen of the Court,” Serena opened up about how she once encountered a huge problem over her lunch in school. The Williams sisters were part of a school where there was a special line for those who didn’t have their arrangements for food. Those students were given peanut butter and jelly sandwich for the lunch.

Notably, the American tennis legend was quite embarrassed to stand in that line when she didn’t have any money to buy her own lunch.
Talking about it she said, “One day, I realized just before lunch that I didn’t have any money. The way it worked at this particular school was if you didn’t have any money for lunch you’d stand in this special line and they’d give vou a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.”

Serena also revealed that she spent her money on something else due to which she was in that situation in school. They were serving fried chicken and the 41-year-old was craving to eat that meal. Further, the thought of missing out on all that fried chicken disappointed her.

So she went to her big sister, Venus for some help during that “upsetting” situation. Serena said, “I told Venus the deal, and what did she do? She reached into her pocket and handed me her lunch money. She didn’t even think about it. She just said, “I’ll have the peanut butter and jelly sand-wich. I like peanut butter and jelly.”
Whether it was, a gold trophy or a fried chicken lunch in the cafeteria, Venus hated to see her sister disappointed when they were in school.
Talking about the 7 singles Grand Slam champion in the same book, Serena opened up about how her sister was the “main attraction” for the sporting community. Consequently, the former tennis ace became quite jealous after witnessing Venus getting all the hype when they were kids.
