Five-time NBA champion Dennis Rodman is one of the most popular NBA players ever. The former Chicago Bulls icon was a menace on the court and his off-court activities made him more and more popular among fans.

However, he might have never even made it into the league. Rodman grew up in a troubled environment and he was involved in crime. Moreover, his mother kicked him out of the house and instructed him to find a job.

During this phase of his life, he spent countless nights sleeping outside. He also resorted to petty crimes like stealing and drugs which put him in trouble more often than not.
Talking during an interview, Rodman talked about how he would have been in jail and dead if not for his growth spurt. The 6-foot-7 inches tall Rodman said, “I’d probably in jail, probably dead. Back then, I was more of a follower.“
He further talked about his transition from a janitor to an NBA superstar. When asked about why he went to jail, Rodman said, “Not for killing somebody. I don’t do that sh*t. The other sh*t, like drugs, stealing stupid little sh*t like that.“

A young Rodman grew 12-inches miraculously. Also, his basketball practice helped him get noticed by scouts. Rodman attended Southern Oklahoma City University after initially attending North Central Texas College.

Dennis Rodman was a special player entering the 1986 draft. Despite all his antics both on and off the court, he was a phenomenal defender and rebounder. Subsequently, he was drafted by the Detroit Pistons as the 27th pick during the second round.
He won two NBA titles with the Pistons before moving to the San Antonio Spurs. He then famously joined the Chicago Bulls and paired with Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen and help the team win three NBA titles.
