Justin Haley, a native from the Indiana area, started 2024 with Rick Ware Racing in the No.51 Ford. Previously, he went by the nickname of J.J Haley, until he made a switch to the name Justin Haley formally in 2016. Not only as a racer, Justin Haley is also known to be the owner of Darkhorse Racecars. This one is known to dirt late model and dirt modified chassis manufacturers.
Haley does have a fair share of relationships with the tracks, given that he is the nephew of Todd Braun. Todd Braun is the owner of the very well-known team, Braun Motorsports. Haley recently got married in the year 2023 to his Haley Mottinger.
From Midget racing to Daytona victory: Justin Haley’s racing exploits
Haley’s career as a driver started at 9 at Kokomo Quarter Midget Club. In 2009 and 2010, he clinched the KQMC and Indiana State Series titles, adding the Light 160 State Championship in 2011. By 2014, he was a part of K&N Pro Series East, achieving a best finish of seventh at Dover. The following year, he joined HScott Motorsports and earned Rookie of the Year honors. But his breakthrough came in 2016, securing his first Pro Series East win at Greenville-Pickens Speedway and claiming the championship with an unmatched streak of top-ten finishes in all 14 races.
However, it was in the year 2018 that Haley had his first endeavor with the field of NASCAR Xfinity Series. He debuted at the Iowa Speedway and finished 12th. In July 2018, Haley drove the No. 24 car for GMS Racing at Daytona. This is also the same time when he crossed the finish line ahead of Kyle Larson and Elliott Sadler.
However, NASCAR ruled his pass illegal. This is primarily because he went below the double yellow line. This took away his first position and instead, he finished at the 18th position. In 2019, Haley driving the No. 77 Chevrolet, earned his very first NASCAR Cup Series victory at the Daytona International Speedway.

It was at the Bristol Motor Speedway that the team’s Spire Motorsports and Rick Ware Racing announced that they would be opting in for an “old-fashioned player trader”. This trade would entail that the two drivers, Corey LaJoie and Justin Haley, will be swapped and they will be driving each other’s cars for the upcoming seven races. Dickerson had announced that Haley would drive for the No. 7 team in 2025. He will be in line with Rodney Childers who will act as his new crew chief.
Benton on the other hand had stated that the Ware group will review its plans for next season. The decision would be dependent on the last seven races. Haley joined the Rick Ware Racing team after signing a multiyear deal in July 2023. The 25-year-old driver returned to Spire Motorsports. This is the same team that gave him his Cup Series debut in 2019. Haley earned his first Cup Series win at Daytona International Speedway in just his third career start.
