William Clyde “Chase” Elliott II or better known as just Chase Elliott, has become a prominent figure in the current NASCAR lineup. Throughout the years, he has showcased true talent and sportsmanship through his on-track and off-track actions.
The Hendrick Motorsports driver also clenched a Cup Series Championship back in 2020. However, behind him, is a racing legacy started by his father. The 27-year-old Cup Series driver’s father was none other than the legendary Bill Elliott. As per sikids.com, he is also lovingly known as “Awesome Bill from Dawsonville.” Although he is retired now, he has set numerous achievements throughout his career.

Meanwhile, Chase Elliott’s mother is Cindy Elliott. She too has played a major role in the young Elliott’s life.
Chase Elliott’s father’s history in NASCAR
Bill Elliott‘s career in NASCAR spanned over three decades. During this time, he won multiple races and was the Cup Series champion in 1988.

Moreover, the 67-year-old NASCAR legend also holds the record (tied with Dale Earnhardt Jr.) for being the most popular driver a total of 16 times. Honoring his achievements in the sport, NASCAR even inducted him into the hall of fame back in 2015.
One could say that Bill’s foundation was solidified after his son entered the sport and carried his name forward.
The legendary Billy Elliott’s racing achievements
Elliott’s most notable achievement came in 1985 when he won the Winston Million—a $1 million bonus for winning three out of four of the year’s most prestigious races, Daytona 500, Winston 500, Coca-Cola 600, and Southern 500. This feat cemented his place in NASCAR history and earned him the nickname “Million Dollar Bill.”
Throughout his career, Elliott amassed a total of 44 wins in the cup series, including two Daytona 500 victories and one NASCAR Cup Series championship.
He also set multiple records, including the fastest qualifying speed in NASCAR history at 212.809 mph in 1987.
How Chase Elliott took inspiration from his father
Chase Elliott is a NASCAR star in his own right. However, he’s quick to credit his father, Bill Elliott, for inspiring him to chase his dreams on the racetrack. Bill recalls fond memories of watching his son race go-karts on paved road courses during their time in Colorado, where Chase’s love for racing truly blossomed. According to Bill, Chase’s early start in racing and exposure to various types of tracks have made his son a better driver than himself. “I didn’t start racing until I was 17, 18. He started when he was eight, nine, 10 years old. You learn a lot more early on. And he raced a lot more short track then I ever did,” says Bill. Chase has shown a remarkable ability to adapt to different cars as the sport has evolved over time. It’s clear that the Elliott racing legacy continues to thrive with Chase at the wheel.
Chase Elliott’s mother’s famous journalism career
Cindy Elliott is the second wife of NASCAR legend, Bill Elliott and the mother of Chase Elliott. During her early days, Cindy was a photojournalist for Scene and Illustrated.

It was during a photoshoot for Budweiser, Cindy met Bill, and their professional relationship soon turned into a personal one.

After graduating from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, Cindy started working for a publishing company in 1987.
Chase Elliott and his relationship with his siblings
Chase Elliott maintains a close relationship with his siblings, Starr and Brittany Ann Elliott. Both of them are the children of Bill Elliott’s first wife, Martha Elliott. Information on both sisters is limited. However, as per thefamilynation.com, Starr is married and lives with her husband and daughter back in Dawsonville itself. Meanwhile, the elder Brittany reportedly serves as “Senior Airman for the Air Force.” She apparently lives in New Mexico.
