Kyle Larson and Chase Elliott are two of the biggest names in NASCAR today. And why won’t they be? They are both generational talents, they’re both Cup championship winners, and they’re both future legends in the making.
Naturally, along with that kind of reputation and status, both of them are also quite influential to the sport.
So if one of them or both of them have an opinion, one which could change how NASCAR approaches an event in a big way, well, there’s a big chance of that materializing into reality.

For instance, both of them recently expressed their common opinion about sending drivers home. In case they don’t make the main event of a race like the one in the LA Coliseum.
Chase Elliott cannot see how eliminating cars would “hurt anything at all”
The Hendrick Motorsports duo spoke in a joint press conference ahead of the Clash. They shared their thoughts on sending drivers home to other events outside of the Clash at the Coliseum.
Elliott said, “I think it’s a good thing. I don’t see where it hurts anything at all, so I’m fine with that.” He added, “I thought the event last year was good and ended up kinda figuring itself out in the end and I feel like most of the time it’s gonna do that.”
“I’m good with that.”

Kyle Larson shares his take on the elimination of drivers: “..something that’s exciting”
For his take on the subject which Elliott approved of, Kyle Larson began by prefacing his answer with a mention of his roots. “I came from the land of B-Mains and stuff, and people miss the show. It makes those consolation races really intense,” he said.

“As we saw last year, it adds a storyline even though it’s nearly as intense as Daytona. You see it everywhere in the Duels,” Larson continued. “It makes the Daytona 500 for every team probably mean more and much more special to make it because you had to earn your way in.”
The 2021 Cup champion ended his answer by echoing that of the 2020 Cup champion, as he claimed the proposal to have the elimination part in more races was “good.”

“I think it’s something that’s exciting,” Larson emphasized.
