If you never knew about Draymond Green punching the lights out of Jordan Poole, you might be living under a rock. The Golden State Warriors teammates had an altercation that shocked the entire league after a video emerged. The NBA fraternity condemned the incident and Green received a fine. Later, Jordan Poole packed his bags off to Washington Wizards, and guess what, the air’s still hot ya’ll!
Notably, a video emerged of the game between the Warriors and Wizards where Poole guarded Green. We can see Green looking to score while standing at the post, swinging his arms wildly, which Poole remembers as the knockout punch. The blockbuster moment came when Draymond started trash-talking to Carlton Carrington. In comes Poole, to save the day!
He nicely dragged him away from the site and Draymond egged on Poole as the confrontation was far from over. With Carrington just 19, having Green in his mind could dampen his game. Therefore, we saw fans cheering after the incident with one fan stating, “Draymond, leave him alone. Leave him alone Draymond.”

Fans got their money’s worth as Poole stole Green’s pass in the phase of play and went to dunk it in. But later on in the game, Poole hit a three, only for Curry to hit a corner-three and Green pointed Poole to Curry’s greatness. What’s the NBA without some fun and banter? GSW won the game as Green had the last laugh, with a score of 125-112. Green scored 18 points while Poole had 24. It’s incredible to see something like this happen as they were teammates before.

The Jordan Poole-Draymond Green fiasco drags on!
The incident mirrors what you see in a volcano. It boils up, up, and up, to a point where it blasts off with a punch from Draymond, the tipping point. With Poole up for contract extension and Green in the final year of his contract, the Warriors front office had a task in their hands.
They couldn’t afford both the players and Poole apparently said, “You’re an expensive backpack for 30.”

They came to the practice arena, and it went on and on, until Poole shoved him and Green came back with a knockout punch. After the incident, Poole mentioned, “Draymond apologized, and we plan on handling ourselves that way. We’re going to play basketball. Everybody in the locker room knows what it takes to win a championship, and we’re going to do that on the court. That’s really all I have to say on the matter. We’re here to win a championship and keep hanging banners.”
Inadvertently, the moment Green punched Poole saw the franchise taking a u-turn, in its hopes of winning a title. Poole helped the Warriors to win the championship in the 2021-2022 season. Yet, he didn’t look like the same player in 2023 and eventually got traded. Hence, Green’s role in the incident could have caused the Warriors to dampen their process.
