The NHL breeds a massive fan base. And while winter calls for only one sport, Tim Maher and his family of five are all prepped up to experience the latest Winter Classic between Boston Bruins and Pittsburgh Penguins set to take place at the Fenway on the first week of January.

The Maher fam just couldn’t afford to miss the NHL quintessential. Therefore, in a pretty insane feat, they decided to drive all the way to Boston from Phoenix because apparently, they were held up at the airport due to their detained flights. How fun is that? Let’s find out.

According to a tweet by WCVB-TV Boston, Tim Maher, father of four, decided to drive a thirty-nine hour trip to Boston from their hometown intending to attend this year’s Winter Classic between the reigning Bruins and rising Penguins. This sensational game is ready to kick-start on the 2nd of January. And guess what? Tim and his family are gonna be there for sure.
Tim Maher didn’t want to fail his teenage son’s wish to witness the epic game and bought tickets for the whole Maher household. ‘The one gift I want is I want to go back to Boston for the Classic”, the father revealed. Thus, while the family waited at the airport as their flights kept getting delayed, Tim decided to take on his quite unusual backup plan.
“I said, ‘It’s not happening. Like, nothing’s happening”, Tim said implying on their wait for the flights to resume. Hence, falling back on Plan B, the family instantly went back home, packed, got some rest, rented a car and set about their long drive to the capital of Massachusetts.

However, the game is definitely worth it. The Bruins hold the best scores in the league while the Penguins have won major numbers of matches and have set foot in the finals. Additionally, this is the second time the classic is being held at the famous park.
