KANSAS CITY, Mo. — As of September 11, 2024, Sporting Kansas City midfielder Felipe Hernández’s contract has been terminated by Major League Soccer.
This comes after an investigation regarding Hernández’s alleged violation of MLS gambling policies for the second time. Hernández was also suspended in 2021 for violating these policies.
The midfielder was placed on administrative leave back in June of this year. Now, his contract has been terminated.
Now, Hernández won’t be eligible for reinstatement until January 1, 2026, on application to the Commisioner’s Office.
The MLS investigation found no evidence of inside information being shared, or that any match was tampered with or compromised.
