The long, often annoying Alex Bregman sweepstakes ended Wednesday night when the star infielder reportedly agreed to join the Boston Red Sox.
Bregman’s deal, which includes deferred money, reportedly will pay him $120 million over three seasons and features opt-outs after each year. The 30-year-old rejected a Detroit Tigers offer that included more money but fewer opt-outs and a lower average salary.
However, money wasn’t the only factor in Bregman choosing the Red Sox over other suitors, according to MLB insider Jon Heyman.
