She just dropped her first match after a break at the Libema Open, but she knew she could do it. Not only that, she encountered a terrible circumstance during her first-round matchup with Camila Giorgi when she slipped and tumbled to the ground after striking her forehead.
Everyone is criticizing the Italian tennis player for celebrating while her opponent was in pain after the contentious incident. But it was Venus’ angry expression after rising from the pain in the middle of the match, that drew the attention of Serena Williams’ former coach, Rick Macci.

The 68-year-old American coach who mentored the Williams sisters during their early tennis careers, still likes to keep track of his pupils. And recently, after the 43-year-old tennis player won her comeback match, Leaving her success and her hustle behind, Macci talks about the expression on her face when she got up on the tennis court after falling, while attempting to hit an amazing shot.
He wrote, “@venusewilliams always had that look. @serenawilliams always had that look. Richard and Orcene had that look. Now that I think about it even that little feisty dog they had from Compton had that look. LOOK WHO IS WATCHING NOW.”
Nevertheless, he also talked about how that fierce look is something that runs in the family. And everybody starting from her parents to her sister, even her little dog from Compton, might have that look on his face. If you are a Williams sister fan, then you have definitely seen these faces before on the tennis court. Moreover, who would have understood the look more than their tennis coach, who literally spent 40 years of his life nurturing tennis talents!
On the other hand, her younger sister’s former coach said the same thing. And slammed her first-round opponent for the controversial gesture after the 43-year-old tennis player’s fall incident.
