The much-awaited Daytona 500 took place yesterday and it did not disappoint. It was an eventful race but it turned out to be a nightmare for quite a few drivers. The race turned chaotic when Tyler Reddick pushed Kevin Harvick on Turn 4—resulting in multiple cars bumping into each other. One of the victims of this incident was Kyle Larson.
The shove from Harvick eventually resulted in Aric Almirola hard-bumping Travis Pastrana. The X Games specialist then hooked Kyle Larson in his right rear. This saw the Hendrick Motorsports driver spin out of control and hit the wall. Larson was hit the hardest among the many cars involved. It was a concerning moment for NASCAR fans.

It is worth noting that many fans across the world missed the accident because of a commercial break. Fans have never really enjoyed such breaks, especially in a high-intensity race like the Daytona 500. What is even more frustrating from a fan’s perspective is having to stay aloof from the details post the incident took place.

Obviously, many were concerned with the wellness of the drivers affected. With Kyle Larson being one of the more popular figures, fans were keen to know about his well-being. But somehow NASCAR failed to timely update the fans and that resulted in an outrage on social media.
It is understandable where the fans come from. They have every right to demand an update, especially given the sensitivity of the accident.

NASCAR’s failure to update on Kyle Larson didn’t stop the fans from looking for information elsewhere. It was eventually confirmed that the 30-year-old driver was doing fine.

Fortunately, Larson’s car held up pretty well and minimized the damage. Even his safety equipment served its purpose, which just goes to show how critical they are in such a scenario. There is no doubt that the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series champion would have loved to complete the race.
