The National Hockey League has given teams guidance and salary cap estimates for the next three seasons, sources confirmed to The Athletic. Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman and Rory Boylen were the first to report that teams received salary cap guidance and estimates.
At the NHL player tour, deputy commissioner Bill Daly told The Athletic that the salary cap would likely increase by $1 million in the summer of 2023, with a tied cap starting in 2024.
“I would say we exceeded our expectations this year on revenue,” Daly said. “And even our forecast, which is done fairly late in the season, we exceeded pretty dramatically.
