Most people from the Golf world believe that it is divided into leagues, with LIV Golf offering a fast-paced game-play, while the PGA Tour follows traditional golfing. There have been many critics who have taken sides with LIV Golf, while others have opposed the new-age Saudi League. However, now with the American professional, Patrick Reed coming out and sharing how both leagues are important is something new for the fans.
In a recent interview with Mirror UK, the 2016 major champion shared his thoughts in favor of golf. The interesting part of this is that he did not take the side of any league. Instead, shared how both leagues can be a great benefit for the game. Sharing during the interview, he said, “Hopefully we can just start focusing on golf rather than PGA Tour vs LIV or DP World Tour vs LIV and more about the guys vs the guys.”
Pointing to the fact the people have taken their side with the division of two leagues, he shared how it will help the game. “Obviously some guys didn’t like that some guys jumped and played on a different league, but at the same time I think it has really helped grow the game of golf and showed a different side of it, LIV is different, it is trying to show a different side of golf,” Reed said.

He further backed the PIF League and pointed out how having different leagues could be beneficial. “We don’t need another league that is exactly like the PGA Tour, DP World Tour, Asian Tour. We are trying to bring the younger generation into golf. How do you do that? Add music, a team aspect, have it be faster, have it not last as long with a shotgun start, have the concerts. It shows a new side of golf and a newer age. I think golf needs both.” Catering to different audiences, and having two leagues can be a great push to the game, is what he pointed out through his statements. Unlike the critics who took sides, Reed was looking at the bigger picture for the game and hence shared his thoughts about it.
