The 2024 season is the year of scoring 60 or lower in the golf world! First, it was LIV Golf player Joaquin Niemann who shocked the masses by shooting 59 under at LIV Golf Mayakoba, and the next week at the PGA Tour, Wyndham Clark got his 60 for the third round, which also made him a winner at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Now, it is time for the Korn Ferry Tour pro to write his name in the history books of golf.

Cristobal Del Solar shot a 13 under 57 at the Astara Golf Championship at the Country Club de Bogota-Pacos. Was Del Solar’s record round the lowest in the PGA Tour-sanctioned event’s history?

Round one of the Colombia Championship started after the rain had showered on Bogota, 9,000 feet above sea level. The air was favoring the shots, so the rule was to lift, clean, and place golf balls because of the weather. Although even accumulating all the possible scenarios made it easy, hitting 57 is far from it.
Cristobal Del Solar agreed that the situation was favorable, but one “don’t think, ‘I’m going to shoot 57’,” yet he did. He became the 33rd golfer to card a 60 under round, including all the leagues around the world. But was his 57 under the lowest on the PGA Tour? Before Del Solar’s exceptional round, it was Jim Furyk and Stephen Jaeger.
In the 2016 Ellie Mae Classic at TPC Stonebrae, Jaeger shot a 12 under 58, which was declared the lowest for any PGA Tour-sanctioned event. However, a week later, Jim Furyk matched the German golfer and shot the lowest at TPC River Highlands at the 2016 Travelers Championship. However, now the Chilean golfer is alone at the top to ever shoot 57 under in any PGA Tour-sanctioned event’s history.
In the history of the PGA Tour and the Korn Ferry Tour, Del Solar’s 57 is the new magic number. Will any golfer come close to his legacy any time soon? It will undoubtedly be a sight to witness, if and when it does happen. While clinching the lowest 18-hole record, he also claimed a runner-up place for another PGA Tour score.

Cristobal Del Solar’s second-best record at 9-holes
Before his 18-hole first round made the headlines, he had astonished the masses with his front-nine run. Over the nine holes, Del Solar started with a birdie on the par-4 first hole, continued his fabulous streak from No. 5 to 9, and ended the front nine with an eagle.

The score of the first nine holes was 8 under 27, one stroke below the PGA Tour’s record holder, Corey Pavon, who shot at the 2006 U.S. Bank Championship with a front nine score of 8 under 26. Through a single round of 57, Del Solar made himself a name in the golf world and carded it on two different records of the PGA Tour and its sanctioned events.
