Derek Jeter has been very private about his personal life and that of his family. He has been protective of his family because of the coverage his private life gets in the media. Not much is known about Jeter’s family even today. Though, the former Yankee has always been wary of the people he has around him.

He’s friendly with people and loyal to his friends but doesn’t trust people easily. But his sister’s boyfriend was apparently able to gain Jeter’s trust in the time that they spent together.

Derek Jeter trusted his sister Sharlee’s ex-boyfriend
In an interview published in 2012, famous rapper Skyzoo detailed how he won Jeter’s trust while dating his sister Sharlee Jeter. Skyzoo said that Jeter trusted him because he didn’t use his relationship with Sharlee to get fame. According to MTV, Skyzoo said “When we were rockin’, Derek was lookin’ at me like a little brother, reason being he could trust me. I wasn’t out there puttin’ it on blast it is what it is.”
Although Skyzoo did get some recognition for dating Derek Jeter’s sister, he never used it for personal reasons. Even he never used his relationship with the Yankees’ shortstop to enhance his career, even though he could have.
Skyzoo is a rapper and could’ve easily used Jeter as a way to gain more fans or boost his profile. Instead, he chose to keep a low profile during his relationship with Sharlee and that earned him Derek Jeter’s respect and trust. Skyzoo and Sharlee dated for four years and even got engaged before breaking up.

Even after breaking up with Sharlee, Skyzoo has remained silent on the Jeter family out of respect. This would have definitely gotten him into the good books of Derek Jeter.
What is Skyzoo up to now?
Skyzoo is still dropping music, but most recently shared that he had opened a burger restaurant. In a Tweet, Skyzoo said ““Tomorrow, tuh-tomorrow!” (Rocko voice). Opening the doors to my very own restaurant: The Burger Bistro ATL, tomorrow (Saturday Nov 19) afternoon. Proud, blessed, and exhausted, but the day has come. If you live in ATL pull up”.
