The 2024 season has brought significant changes for Polish star Iga Swiatek. Beyond her WTA top ranking and evolving career trajectory, the Polish player experienced an unexpected shift in her perception of life. In a recent discussion, Swiatek opened up about her journey toward achieving better work-life balance, emphasizing how past challenges taught her to appreciate life beyond her professional goals and achievements.
Swiatek is in Sydney representing team Poland at the 2025 United Cup title after losing it to Germany last year. After failing her doping test in August for Trimetazidine through contaminated melatonin, this is Swiatek’s third tournament after the 2024 Billie Jean King Cup and the WTA Tour Finals. Despite the controversy, this Polish player rose above her challenges for the 2025 season. She expressed her gratitude to her fans for supporting her and igniting her spirit to perform even better this season. However, playing tennis is not Swiatek’s only focus at the moment. Reflecting on her work-life balance, this former WTA number one player revealed something interesting to Caroline Garcia highlighting the change her past experiences brought in her life.
“I would say before I was only tennis, tennis, tennis. I even – I’m deleting Instagram, Twitter, the notification on my emails. So at the beginning it was a good way for me to be more focused. But now you just can’t do that anymore because if you’re going to do that for like 40 weeks per year, that’s not a life anymore,” said the Polish player while attending Garcia’s Podcast Tennis Insider Club Season 2. She also narrated her experience from Roma during the 2024 Italian Open and revealed how she has changed her lifestyle willingly from last year. “I remember after the semifinal I went to dinner and I finished at like midnight. This is something I wouldn’t do a year ago,” she noted. “It was fine. I managed to be focused the same way. I won the tournament and I was really happy that I’m trying to enjoy life a bit more. You need to balance that when you have these days off,” said Swiatek.

Although she is perceiving her professional life with a bit of relaxation, this former WTA number one is still determined to show her best form in the 2025 season with a renewed spirit and hope.
Iga Swiatek has “some new goals” for the 2025 season
Swiatek had many ups and downs last season. Despite clinching a Grand Slam title, all of her positive reputation transformed into a controversy following her doping ordeal. However, Swiatek not only overcame that hurdle like a queen but showcased her zeal to prove her worth to her supporters. “I’m going to start the new season with some new goals, and I’m already looking forward to it. Because we haven’t had time with Wim to practice a lot. So it’s going to be nice to try that. Well, the experience, I would say. I think this year it was easier for me to play as No. 1 and with a target on my back. So I’ll need some time to analyse, because from the beginning, I was just going from tournament to tournament,” she said.
Iga Swiatek’s attitude reflects her renewed motivation and spirit to perform her best in the 2025 season. However, unlike every time, the Polish star now prioritizes her well-being by adding things in her routine that make her feel relaxed. Following such a positive change in her attitude, Swiatek raises the possibilities of a great 2025 season with hopes for many more major titles. Do you think she can make it?
