Just about a month from the official start of the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series season, there seems to be great news involving Kyle Larson and Hendrick Motorsports. Finally, Larson would be able to go down on a doubleheader. That’s right, he’d be racing at the Indy 500. However, it won’t be this year. Rather, the next. It would be a dream come true for the 2021 Cup Series champion at last.
As per the latest reports, Larson received a seat at the Arrow McLaren-Chevrolet IndyCar team. Apparently, the team would be running a fourth car with a HendrickCars.com sponsorship. Talking about the opportunity, Rick Hendrick chimed in and said, “Having the opportunity to support Kyle, partner with an elite team like Arrow McLaren, and promote HendrickCars.com in one of the world’s great auto racing events is truly unique.”
For Larson, meanwhile, this was a “dream come true.” Why wouldn’t it be? After all, he would become the 5th driver to run the doubleheader. Where they race both at the NASCAR Coca-Cola 600 and the Indy 500. Albeit if anyone else gets to do it this year, then he wouldn’t be the 5th driver to do so. However, the last time someone ran a doubleheader, it was Kurt Busch. But that was way back in 2014. With Larson heading out, it would make it 10 years since someone ran it.
