However, the tennis legend was not active on the tennis circuit for the past few years, but his connection to the game also meant a lot to the sport. He inspired a lot of tennis players on and off the tennis court with his calm, humble and winning attitude.

The 72-year-old former tennis player who won his only Grand Slam at the French Open in 1976 in a recent conversation with an Italian weekly magazine Chi talked about various aspects of the sport. In that interview, he also talked about how the 20-time Grand Slam Champion’s retirement has changed his perspective towards the game.

He said, “Now that Federer has stopped I follow much less. The reason? Everything has changed. Now the champions walk around with a court of miracles. There’s too much stardom, it seems like they’re doing who knows what…”

The Italian tennis star made it clear that a lot of things from the original point of view have changed and that the game has become a more celebratory platform for other tennis players. However, this might be the reason why he has now started showing less interest in the sport.
