Caitlin Clark has been compared to the who’s who of the basketball community. Such comparisons are obvious since her records are on par with legends. A few days ago, TMZ broke the news of Clark being offered $5 million from Big3 League of Ice Cube. Since the news broke, many people have expressed their views on what Clark should do. Some have outright criticized this offer, and some are happy that she is elevating the game to the next level. Jason Whitlock, too, has expressed his opinion and compared this offer to the effect of Tiger Woods on the PGA tour.
According to Roger Pielke Jr. of Sporting Intelligence, The PGA Tour distributed $3.1 billion in prize money between 1997 and 2008. If Tiger didn’t exist, the prize money would have only been around $1.5 billion. Woods helped it increase by 9.3% per year instead of 3.4% year-over-year.
Whitlock, on his YouTube channel, said, “Nobody is celebrating Caitlin Clark out there the way she should be celebrated. You’re doing the exact same thing that happened to Tiger Woods when he started dominating golf. Remember Fuzzy Zoeller? That’s who you are. When Tiger Woods won the 1997 Masters, he put a clown suit on everybody, took golf to new heights, and made money rain on everybody in golf.”

He also stated that everybody else was jealous of Woods, and instead of celebrating his championship, he would be facing discrimination. Whitlock said, “Tiger Woods, what are you going to serve at the Champions Dinner—fried chicken and collared greens?? That’s going to be the next thing out of somebody’s mouth.” Continuing that, people are just hating Clark for being better.
The Fox Sport radio analyst thrashed people’s opinions who believe Clark should only choose the WNBA offer. He said it may appear that people are looking out for her, but the first chance they get, they will slander her achievements.
Whitlock on Caitlin Clark’s haters
Urging Clark to take up the Big3 offer. “Caitlin Clark needs to take this $5 million, and about ten other women need to join her and take $250,000 checks to go play in the Big3 in a remade league that will have rules that will protect Caitlin Clark’s safety and allow her to participate. I don’t care what it looks like; it’s just a TV show.”

He further clarified how Clark is the star now, and people will watch her in huge numbers. “It will work. People are infatuated with Caitlin Clark. Putting her on the court with a couple guy teammates in a 3-on-3 game is a way to make people pay attention to women’s basketball players. This idea of Ice Cube’s and his sponsor could be dynamite.”
According to CNN, Caitlin Clark’s focus right now is only on the March Madness in response to the Big3 offer. This was asked before her match against Colorado, which the Hawkeyes won and now march on to Elite 8. The LSU Tigers are the opponents, and it will be a replay of last year’s final.
