Though Tom Brady has retired from the NFL, his nature hasn’t mellowed down. Still competitive as he ever was, he now uses social media to retort at his rivals. Though the rivalries he had in the league aren’t as fierce as they used to be, we still get to see some action here and there. That’s what happened recently.
On December 2, Tom Brady posted a photo from his fish trip. However, the former New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning tried to mock the former New England Patriots quarterback by posting a collage that had Brady’s fishing trip photo and his photo holding a fish with the caption, “Cute Minnow, Tom!” But the GOAT didn’t like it, and posted an IG story with that collage and wrote, “You use a helmet to catch that one too?” That’s interesting. But it also led us to find that story to which TB12 was referring here.

We have to rewind 15 years. It was Super Bowl XLII. Tom Brady & Co. were heavily favored to win against Eli Manning & Co. However, in the 3rd quarter, with 2 minutes 39 seconds remaining in the game, Manning made an unbelievable play on the 3rd down. Defying the pressing Patriots’ defense, he passed the ball to David Tyree, who caught it by pressing the ball against his helmet with only his right hand.
Not only did the Patriots lose the Super Bowl year, but they couldn’t finish the season undefeated as they won all 16 games in the regular season. That is the rivalry at its peak. But it shows that the GOAT’s memory is still fresh about everything that occurred in the league.
Stay tuned! There’s more to this story.
