MLB great Derek Jeter, after playing the game for over two decades, has left a legacy that will never fade away from baseball. He garnered countless accolades during his 20-year career in MLB. The highest being induction into the Baseball National Hall of Fame. Taking the team towards a World Series win is challenging enough, let alone five. But Captain Clutch did it with ease. And now, even though Jeter doesn’t play the game anymore, upcoming MLB talent has already started to imitate Jeet in his incredible play on the diamond.
Most recently, during a game of Desert Invitational, Grand Canyon University played against Tennessee and won the game by 4-3. In the same game, MLB’s ninth prospect, Jacob Wilson, followed in the footsteps of the Yankees legend, i.e. his favorite baseball player.
Young baseball talent dubbed Derek Jeter as his favorite

Aside from the forthcoming World Baseball Classic and MLB’s regular season, multiple tournaments are taking place, including MLB Desert Invitational. This tournament is one of the best opportunities for baseball fans to have a look at the game’s future. Consisting of seven teams, the tournament was already started on February 17.
With just three innings into game 2 of the Desert Invitational, Wilson, like Derek Jeter, dove right into the stands in an attempt to snare a pop-up. Which then prompted his coach to say, “I thought his favorite player was his dad, but I guess it’s Derek Jeter.“
For those unversed, the ninth prospect, Jacob Wilson, is the son of a former big league shortstop Jack Wilson. The senior Wilson played for three different teams in his MLB career, which spanned twelve years. Now, he’s working as an assistant coach for the team his son is currently playing for.

Wilson’s father taught him what was not okay in the game
Although his actions showed that he might be a fan of Captain Clutch, Junior Wilson has not said a word about himself yet. However, he did talk about the one thing that his father had instigated in him all through high school.
It was, “Striking out is not OK.” Since that moment, Jacob had never been just “OK” with striking out.
