Tom Aspinall surprised everyone after his impressive win at UFC 295 against Sergei Pavlovich. However, his victory is still considered hollow by many fans as he waits for his next title fight. Despite showing his willingness to fight Jon Jones on multiple occasions, ‘Honey Badger’ is still waiting for a response. However, in some good news for the Brit, the 30-year-old Brit has finally caught the attention of Dana White and he now wants to set him up for a fight soon. In a recent interview, while speaking to TNT Sports, White expressed his concerns regarding Aspinall not getting a fight.
The host of the show asked White whether they would see a first interim title defense featuring Tom Aspinall. White then replied to the question and said, “Well yeah, I mean, if you think right now it’s March, right? Who knows that Jon Jones and Stipe you know because of the injury? Who knows when they’ll fight? It’s not right to let Tom sit and if Tom wants to defend the title, we’ll absolutely do it.

The battle between Jon Jones and Tom Aspinall might be one of the biggest what-ifs in the history of the UFC if it never materializes. However, after their recent clash at an event, Jones mocked the 30-year-old Brit. Jones uploaded a picture from the event on his Instagram handle and a fan questioned about him not having a pic with Aspinall. ‘Bones’ responded in his own style and commented, “I didn’t have enough space on the reel to post any of the fan photos, sry.“ Aspinall seemed absolutely unfazed by the comment and in a recent interview he shared his experience of meeting Jones.

He said, “He’s nowhere near as big as I thought,” Aspinall said, “I thought he was a lot taller.” The Brit further added, “But I guess when you fight at light heavyweight for your whole career, and you’re 6’4″, you look really tall. But I’m a full-blown heavyweight. There’s no chance he’s beating me. Size doesn’t matter really. We’re both massive guys. But I’ll take him. I bet I’ll beat him, definitely.” Aspinall is undoubtedly one of the strongest strikers in the heavyweight division. However, it will be interesting to see who he faces next.
