Playing a sport with someone who is highly regarded as the greatest, is a wish for many. Tennis star Mardy Fish had the opportunity to play a round of golf with golfing legend Annika Sorenstam at the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions. They both shared their admiration for each other on Twitter. Let’s take a look at what they had to say.
Though the TOC is a highly anticipated event among female golfers, celebrity players also compete in a separate division next to the pros. Mardy Fish won the 2021 celebrity edition of the tournament. The retired tennis star returned to the Lake Nona Golf Club to claim back his throne. However, he had some golf royalty alongside him this time.

Albeit Sorenstam is one of the greatest golfers of all time, she doesn’t have the same amount of spark as she did for obvious reasons. The former LPGA star retired from the sport in 2008. However, she does make appearances at the Senior Tour or Pro-am events.
The 10-time Major winner competed against Fish and other notable names. Nonetheless, the Tennis star shared his joy for playing with one of the greatest golfers of all time. “An absolute honor to golf with @ANNIKA59 today in the @HiltonGrandVac event today”, tweeted Fish, while posting a picture with Sorenstam.
The LPGA legend didn’t stay put after the Tennis star’s appreciation post. She reacted to the tweet with a response of her own. “So much fun”, wrote Sorenstam. She also complimented Fish’s golfing style by tweeting, “Well played”. The female Hall of Famer is paired with the current leader of the event Danielle Henderson.

Meanwhile, Mardy Fish is playing next to the rising talent Nelly Korda. Each pair in the tournament comprises of a celebrity and a pro. While Sorrenstam’s partner looks to claim the victory on Sunday, Fish too has his sights on the win. He scored 78, nine points better than Annika Sorenstam on the opening day.
Nonetheless, both sporting greats are there to enjoy the sport of golf while competing with fellow athletes. At the end of the day, enjoyment is what matters even beyond victory in pro-am events.
