Savannah James In Awe With Millions More as 10-Year-Old Zhuri Takes LeBron’s Legacy Across Sports

0

The future of James Gang is in good hands. Well, LeBron James has created an unprecedented legacy playing basketball. And his two sons, Bronny and Bryce, are doing their best to carry it forward on the hardwood. However, the family’s youngest member, Zhuri, is the first one to take it across to a different sport.
Yes, the 10-year-old recently did a solo and team photoshoot wearing her new volleyball gear. As expected, Daddy James was bursting with pride and shared the series of his daughter’s images on his latest Instagram post. As it turns out, Zhuri was dawning the number 6 jersey, paying homage to her father. Obviously, LBJ wore that number with the Miami Heat and for a brief period during his Lakers tenure. He even represented the USA in the Olympics wearing that number.
Sure enough, Savannah James could not hold back her excitement and shared the post about Bron’s proud girl dad moment on her IG story, with multiple heart eyed emojis.

Even LeBron had a wholesome message for his baby girl, “🥰🥰😍😍🤎🤎🤎 YOU GO GIRL!!!!!! @allthingszhuri LET’S GO BABY Z!! 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾. Best of luck this season and GO CRAZY!! 🏐👋🏾. #JamesGang👑”
Well, the superstar couple has constantly supported their daughter in her volleyball journey. Just last year, LBJ shared a video from one of her games, where the Lakers star could be seen cheering for Zhuri from the stands after she got multiple points off her serves, “Do your thing munchkin. Do your thing.” It looks like the Class of 2033 athlete is going to be a big volleyball star. Sure enough, even LeBron’s 159 million IG followers were ecstatic to see Zhuri carry her dad’s legacy forward.
NBA World praises Zhuri James after nod to LeBron: “Like Father, Like Daughter.”

Just like Savannah, the entire NBA World was excited to find out that Zhuri was going to wear number 6 on her volleyball team. One netizen claimed the nod to LBJ was a pure sign of flex by the ten-year-old, “‘Yes, my dad is LeBron James’ pure flex.” When you are the daughter of arguably the greatest player ever, a little flex is justified. Moreover, there was happiness all around that LBJ’s legacy would live on through Zhuri even after he retires as one wrote, “Like Father, Like Daughter. 🐐❤️” while another fan gave her the nickname “LeZhuri.”

Meanwhile, one netizen even went into nostalgia mode and claimed, “‘Blocked by James’ lives on. Love it” obviously referring to LeBron’s iconic Game 7 block on Andre Iguodala during the 2016 NBA Finals. A moment that is forever etched in sports history. And now, that same announcement can be used for Zhuri when she gets a block during one of her volleyball games. One fan simply wrote, “SHE’S DESTINED FOR GREATNESS 🙌🙌🙌”
Well, all of LeBron’s children are elite athletes. Obviously, Bronny recently created history by teaming up with his dad in the NBA and is now turning into a solid young star playing for the South Bay Lakers. He recently went off for a career-high 30 points. Meanwhile, Bryce is also expected to make it to the league in the coming years. And now, Zhuri is also beginning to follow in James family’s footsteps and making a name in the sports world. A proud moment for LeBron and Savannah indeed.

WNBA Also Takes Action Against Paige Bueckers’ 17 Years Older Stalker as Justice Prevails for UCONN Starlet

0

Sports are known for their thrilling moments and fierce competition, but for UConn star Paige Bueckers, a chilling case of stalking darkened her world. In a turn of justice, both the WNBA and Connecticut have stepped in, ensuring the 40-year-old man responsible faces serious consequences. With the matter now resolved, Bueckers and her legal team are ready to turn the page on this unsettling chapter.
According to a recent post on X by an ESPN feature writer, “He is barred from CT for 3 years, barred from arenas, hotels, & practice facilities where UConn WBB will be, & the WNBA barred him from all arenas and practice facilities.”
The post went on to reveal that Bueckers’ attorney expressed the star’s wishes “My client wanted him to go home, get treatment and to be left alone.’”

This announcement came after a guilty plea by the man responsible for stalking Bueckers, who had made disturbing efforts to get closer to her, including posting on social media that he planned to propose to the UConn player. His actions, which included sending rambling, inappropriate messages, were not only concerning but raised alarms about Bueckers’ safety.
This case reached its legal conclusion when the man, from Grants Pass, Oregon, pleaded guilty to a second-degree charge of stalking in Rockville Superior Court. The guilty plea resulted in a one-year suspended sentence, with three years of probation.
As part of the plea agreement, he is bound by a protective order that will remain in effect until January 4, 2064. This order prohibits him from entering the state of Connecticut during his probation period, as well as barring him from arenas, hotels, and practice facilities where UConn’s women’s basketball team is present.
WNBA steps up, barring Paige Bueckers’ stalker to ensure her safety
The WNBA has also stepped in, issuing its own restriction, barring the stalker from all arenas and practice facilities across the league.
In an emotional moment, the stalker apologized in court to Connecticut, its residents, and the University of Connecticut. His attorney shared that he would be flying back to Washington, marking the end of his legal ordeal. While Bueckers and UConn head coach Geno Auriemma chose not to comment publicly on the situation, Bueckers’ attorney expressed satisfaction with the outcome.

“We’re very happy with that,” said Robert Britt, who represented Bueckers during the legal proceedings.

The story began in August 2023, when Bueckers’ stalker was arrested by Connecticut State Police while walking along a highway near Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks. At the time, he claimed he was en route to see Paige.

While this case concludes with legal action, it serves as a reminder of the importance of maintaining athlete safety, especially for those who, like Bueckers, are thrust into the limelight at a young age.
As justice prevails for Paige Bueckers, the swift action taken by both the WNBA and the legal system highlights the seriousness with which these matters are now being addressed.

Gilbert Arenas Labels New All-Star Format

0

The new NBA All-Star format has certainly caused a stir across the league. Several have expressed mixed emotions along with distaste. Not just fans, NBA players have also shared their takes on the newer and more competitive format that will be seen in Chase Center in San Francisco. Why is there such criticism against the format? Gilbert Arenas, who can be counted among the people from the latter, dissected the real reason behind it.
During the latest segment of The Gils’ Podcast Show, the retired NBA star opened up about his belief that the new format is less likely to be praised by the elite players. The reason, according to him, is how players worked hard earlier in the league to earn a spot in the NBA All-Star.
Arenas argued, “It took them a great season. It took them whatever their record is to actually be chosen out of the top 24. Then you got another 24 that’s coming in that hasn’t earned the stripe of that game.” “There’s eight players who ain’t earned the right. Like, you motherf***er play on Saturday for a reason. Why do they keep doing that? Now you get to play on Sunday with the big boys? That’s disrespectful. That’s disrespectful to everybody,” he added.

The former Golden State Warriors star further argued that the only one who would have gotten through voting would be Victor Wembanyama. And he isn’t aware of the others. Is he right? The NBA All-Star’s new and different format will be a one-night event with four teams. Three teams are made up of eight All-Star players each, while the fourth team consists of the winners of the Rising Stars Challenge for first- and second-year players (rookies and sophomores). In every game, the first team to score 40 points will win.

The event will take place on February 16, while the Rising Stars Challenge is on February 14. Speaking of the new format, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said, “I think we’ve come to terms that modern All-Stars are in part about competition, but ultimately they’re about entertaining the fans and creating a strong experience for them.” Arenas isn’t the only one. Kevin Durant and many more have expressed a similar sentiment earlier.
What does LeBron James think about the NBA All Star?
After last year’s event, where the winning team scored 211 points and fans’ complaints were evident, the league reconsidered the NBA All-Star event format. Lakers star LeBron James also expressed the need for a change. However, he seemingly appeared skeptical about the All-Star format.

“Something had to change. Obviously, the last couple of years haven’t delivered the excitement fans expect. We’ll see how this plays out. Change always brings mixed reactions, but you’ve got to try something different,” James noted. James’s teammate Anthony Davis had a very clear understanding and openly expressed his distaste. In a FOX Sports’ Melissa Rohlin, Davis said, “I don’t really like it. But we’ll see how it goes this year and see if they change it or not.”
Kevin Durant was also among the stars who weren’t appreciative of the new format. He seemingly preferred the previous format and said, “I hate it; I absolutely hate it. Terrible — All-Star Game format changing, all the formats — terrible in my opinion. We should just go back to East-West. Just play a game.” What do you think of the new format?

Fans Make Wild Hailie Deegan Claim as Toyota’s Female Prodigy Succeeds Toni Breidinger

One of the primary reasons why Venturini Motorsports is able to dominate ARCA Series racing is because they rope in talented race car drivers. And they’ve gone on to add another emerging prospect to their driver lineup for 2025. Isabella Robusto has joined Venturini to compete for the championship alongside Brayton Laster, Brenden Queen, and Brad Smith.
Robusto made her ARCA Series debut in 2024. Across the three divisions, she ran a total of 11 races and recorded five top 5s and eight top 10s. She did come close to clinching her first series win at the Illinois State Fairgrounds, Nashville Fairground Speedway, and Irwindale Speedway. TRD has been helping Robusto level up her racing credentials, and a full-time run at Venturini Motorsports will put her on the map.

“I’m excited for this incredible opportunity to return to Venturini and run full-time for a championship in the ARCA Menards Series. I can’t thank Toyota and VMS enough for putting me in this position.” The 20-year-old said this via the team’s press release. She knows that history is within her grasp if she lives up to the billing, driving the No. 55 entry next year. In the 71-year history of ARCA, there hasn’t been a single woman race car driver to win the race, and this is something Robusto wants to change in 2025.
“I feel confident going into the season and will set some big goals for myself; I’m here to learn but also compete for the title and challenge for the win each time out. Knowing I have a chance to become the first female to win at this level is also exciting and on my mind. There’s a lot of history with VMS and the ARCA Series, and I’m proud to be a part of it,” she added. It is only natural that fans would start making her comparisons with the likes of Hailie Deegan and Toni Breidinger.
However, it feels like the community is rallying behind Robusto as if they know she will deliver the goods.
Fans are confident about Isabella Robusto’s debut run in ARCA next year
With Toni Breidinger securing a seat at Tricon Garage, Venturini Motorsports needed to reinforce their driver lineup. Robusto’s arrival seems like a straight swap, but as far as talent is concerned, fans feel Robusto has an upper hand over the previous female driver line-up in ARCA. “So happy for Isabella. In the few starts, she’s already impressed me in the few starts across ACRA East and West competition. She’s also done great in the Cars Tour. I’m sure Isabella will have a ton of success in the ARCA Menards Series.”

Well, there were a few who aimed cryptic jabs at former ARCA series driver Hailie Deegan. Just like Robusto, she was linked with TRD. However, Deegan jumped ships to Ford camp and climbed her way to the Xfinity Series. From the outside looking in, it feels as if she made the right call. But her disappointment in the Xfinity Series, where she was sacked mid-season, makes you think otherwise. Reacting to this new signing by Venturini, a fan added, “Finally, a female racer with talent! She will be fun to watch.”
There were a few passionate fans who didn’t want either Breidinger or Amber Balcean to return to the team. Briedinger had a streak of top-10 finishes this season, but now that Robusto has joined the team, fans are excited to cheer her on for race wins. “If Rubusto wins in THIS equipment, I never want to see Breidinger or Balcean near a race car ever again.”
Robusto’s run in the ARCA East and the West Series in 2024 was indeed commendable. In eight starts she managed to register two runner-up finishes and was close to scripting history. Now that she has secured a full-time ride, Robusto will be eager to hunt down that historic win, and this fan also is optimistic about her chances in 2025. “So happy for Isabella. In the few starts, she’s already impressed me in the few starts she had across ACRA East and West competition. She’s also done great in the Cars Tour. I’m sure Isabella will have a ton of success in the ARCA Menards Series.”

It seems like the 20-year-old driver has already garnered loyal support for herself thanks to her exploits on the racetrack. Back in 2021, she even went toe-to-toe against Dale Earnhardt Jr. in the South Carolina 400. She raced from 30th to finish this event 3rd, and performances like this seem to have struck the right chord with the racing community. “This is the news I was waiting for! This is not just another female race car driver. This is a driver that can win races and compete for the championship! I have every confidence in her ability! I’m stoked!” another fan added.
What are your expectations for Isabella Robusto as she embarks on the next big chapter in the ARCA Series?

Who Is Isabella Robusto – the 20-YO Set to Replace Toni Breidinger at Venturini Motorsports

It’s exciting to see more women making their mark in NASCAR, and Isabella Robusto is the next name to watch. As Toni Breidinger moves up to the NASCAR Truck Series in 2025 with Tricon Garage, Isabella is stepping into her shoes at Venturini Motorsports for a full-time ride in the ARCA Menards Series. It’s going to be her first full season in ARCA, and things are looking bright for the 20-year-old Toyota Racing Development driver.
Venturi Motorsports signed the youngster in 2023 as a part-time ARCA driver which is generally the usual course for a developmental driver, but her career in the series was not off to a good start. Robusto suffered a concussion in a last-lap accident in a Late Model Race at Hickory Motor Speedway. Just a week before her planned ARCA debut. But with 2024, came new possibilities and Robusto had stellar runs getting a full-time ride for the next season.
A look back at Isabella Robusto’s career so far

Born in South Carolina, Isabella was practically born with a helmet on. She started karting at just 5 years old, and her toughest competitor? Her brother, Will Robusto. By age 8, she was racing Bandolero cars at Charlotte Motor Speedway, and by 11, she was already a state champion in the Young Lions division. It was clear from a young age that she was headed for something big in the racing world.
Her breakthrough came in 2018 when she became the first female to win a national qualifier race in the Legend Car competition. That win, at Texas Motor Speedway during the six-day “Battle at the Big Top,” really put her on the map. She went on to race Late Model Stock Cars in 2020 and 2021, where she racked up impressive stats: 6 top-5 finishes, 14 top-10s, and even a pole. A standout moment was at the South Carolina 400, where she made an incredible charge from 33rd to 3rd—ahead of none other than Dale Earnhardt Jr., who finished 9th.
After her injury in Hickory, she only returned to racing in 2024-driving part-time for VMS, although the journey wasn’t easy. “We tried to go back a couple times to see if I was ready to get back into a car,” Robusto said. “Concussions are a weird thing, and I’ve learned so much about them this past year. You can’t really set time on them. You can feel good one day only to experience a whole different feeling when you get in the car.” Her return to racing was marked with a 16th-place finish in the Pro Late Model preliminary for the All American 400 at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway.
In her limited 2024 ARCA starts, Isabella impressed everyone. In 11 combined races across the ARCA Menards Series, ARCA Menards West, and ARCA East, she posted five top-5 finishes, eight top-10s, and led 59 laps. Two of her best finishes were second place: once at the Illinois State Fairgrounds and again at Irwindale Speedway in the West series. Not bad for a rookie season!
Heading into 2025, Robusto is pumped about the opportunity to race full-time for Venturini Motorsports. She’ll be behind the wheel of the #55 Toyota Camry and is aiming to become the first woman to win an ARCA race. She’s already proven she’s close, and with a full season ahead, she’s feeling more confident than ever.
“I’m excited for this incredible opportunity to return to Venturini and run full-time for a championship in the ARCA Menards Series,” Isabella said. “I can’t thank Toyota and VMS enough for putting me in this position.” To add to her confidence VMS has full confidence in their driver.

There’s no better place for Isabella to make her full-time debut than Venturini Motorsports. This team has been around since 1982 and has racked up 107 wins in ARCA’s various series. They’ve helped develop some of the biggest names in NASCAR, like Christopher Bell, Alex Bowman, and Bubba Wallace.
Trent Rodriguez, manager of driver development at Toyota Racing Development (TRD), is all in on Isabella’s potential. He said, “Venturini Motorsports and TRD have worked together for many years and that partnership has led to much success in the continued development of many talented drivers as they look to reach their goals in NASCAR. Isabella is the latest example of this, and we are excited for her to be able to compete for the national ARCA championship this season.”
Isabella’s confidence is just as strong. “I feel confident going into the season and will set some big goals for myself. I’m here to learn, but also to compete for the title and challenge for the win each time out,” she shared. “Knowing I have a chance to become the first female to win at this level is also exciting and on my mind. Jeff Gordon Pays His Respect to Motorsports Legend Who Helped Him Break Into the Big Leagues

Jeff Gordon is a household name in NASCAR. The California native moved with his family to Pittsboro, Indiana to get better opportunities in the racing world. Gordon won several USAC races and being in Indiana was always fascinated by IndyCar. In fact, he was almost en route to an open-wheel career but could not find the funding. This was followed by his debut full season in NASCAR Cup Series (then called Busch Series) in 1993. But the Gordon we know today showed his prowess only in the 1994 season.
Especially the Inaugural Brickyard 400 race, which truly shaped his career, making him a household name. And Jeff Gordon gives credit to the track announcers at the time who made the Brickyard 400 as grandeur as it is and shaped his career into what it became. And one particular veteran from that time is now retiring and Gordon had a heartfelt farewell message for him.
Dave Calabro has retired!
ADVERTISEMENT Article continues below this ad
For nearly 40 years, one name has been synonymous with the Indianapolis Motor Speedway: Dave Calabro. Calabro’s voice has been the soundtrack to some of the biggest moments at the Indianapolis track, and his work as a track announcer since 1985 helped elevate the sport. And not just him many media personnel, especially when NASCAR made its debut at Indy in 1994.
Jeff Gordon, who was fortunate enough to win that first-ever Brickyard 400, credits Calabro and his fellow broadcasters for helping make that race—and his career—what it is today. 93 Cup wins, 4 championships, and whatnot. Ahead of this year’s Brickyard 400, Gordon had a heartwarming chat with Calabro, who was still working with news station WTHR in Indianapolis.
Jeff Gordon shared his gratitude, saying, “Growing up in Indiana, this place was always special to me. I really appreciated how you guys supported me when I moved south to race NASCAR and told the story of that inaugural race. It played a big part in getting us across that finish line first. It was an amazing day that changed my life forever.”
Now, after a legendary 40-year career, Calabro is retiring. But before he hung up the mic, Gordon made sure to give a shout-out to the man who had been such an important part of his career. On X (formerly Twitter), Gordon posted a throwback photo with Calabro, saying, “Congratulations Dave Calabro on your retirement from WTHR Channel 13! You’ve been a staple in the Indy market for years and helped cover a kid from Pittsboro who just wanted to race at the big track. We’ll see you at Indy next year!”
Calabro, who announced his retirement in June and officially wrapped up his time at WTHR recently, isn’t completely leaving the track behind. He made it clear that, as long as Roger Penske will have him, he’ll continue to announce at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. “I plan to keep playing on the microphone at my backyard sandbox, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway!…as long as the Captain Roger Penske lets me!”
Reflecting on his career, Calabro wrote on WTHR’s website, “As a high school kid who fell in love with radio and TV, I started dreaming about making a career out of it. Here I am, wrapping up nearly 40 years of getting paid to play Television! The past 32 years here at WTHR have been simply amazing. The journey has been an absolute blast.” Well, let’s hope to see him next season in IndyCar doing what he does best!
What’s next for Dave Calabro?

Calabro started young like Goron, worked in radio as a high schooler at Ben Davis, and through college at Butler University. After graduating from Butler in 1985, Calabro spent five years at WDTN in Dayton, Ohio, where he covered the Cincinnati Bengals and Reds before joining WTHR in 1992 as a weekend sports anchor.
According to Calabro, the experiences matter more than the outcome, “A front row seat to sports history. I always felt it was my responsibility to take you, the viewer, along with me. I tried to never be the story but to bring you the story. I’ve never cared about personal awards. There are Emmys somewhere in my attic, but my award was all the great relationships I’ve formed along the way! Thank you all for always supporting me and welcoming me into your home! God has blessed me beyond measure! “
Now that his broadcasting career is officially over, Calabro is looking forward to a much-needed break. He plans to spend more time with his family, traveling with his wife, Lisa, and visiting his sons, Drew and Alex, on the East Coast. For Calabro, the career that once dominated his life started to interfere with personal time, and now, he’s putting family first.

According to him, his career has been great but that somewhat started to come between his personal life and that’s something he no longer wanted. So from now on all his focus is going to be on his personal life. But at heart, he will probably always be “a track rat.”

Players to watch in the College Football Playoff’s first round

0

State College, Pennsylvania CNN —
College football fans around the country are preparing to settle into their seats – most of them at home, some of them in on-campus stadiums for the first time – for the opening round of College Football Playoff games this weekend.
The football feast kicks off at 8 p.m. ET Friday when Indiana plays Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana, on ESPN and ABC. Saturday holds a full slate of games when Penn State hosts Southern Methodist University (noon ET on TNT), Texas hosts Clemson (4 p.m. ET on TNT) and Ohio State hosts Tennessee (8 p.m. on ESPN and ABC).
Here are five players to watch in this weekend’s opening round – plus some honorable mentions.
Kevin Jennings, SMU quarterback
The Mustangs’ breakout sophomore star is perhaps the biggest key to SMU staying competitive against Penn State’s tough defense and the forecasted freezing temperatures in Happy Valley.
Jennings has thrown for more than 3,000 yards this season and 22 touchdowns, averaging 13.4 yards per completion. Those kinds of big plays through the air are going to be crucial against Penn State’s top-10 defense, which is among the best units against the run in the country.

The Oak Cliff, Texas, native has shown an ability to keep plays alive with his feet, either moving around inside and outside the pocket while waiting for a receiver to get open or going on his own downfield. He’s run for 379 yards this year and five touchdowns, and his ability to extend plays will be key against a Penn State defense that ranks 12th in passing yardage allowed this season.
Jennings and his receivers will also be fighting against an unseen opponent. It’s expected to be cold on Saturday in Beaver Stadium – temperatures hovering in the mid-20s with strong winds – and it’s safe to say the Mustangs will have a bit of temperature shock when they take the field in front of 107,000 people. Highs in Dallas, where SMU is based, have been in the 50s and 60s all week. How those freezing temperatures affect the Mustangs’ passing game could be one of the most important factors in Saturday’s matchup.
Cade Klubnik, Clemson quarterback
It’s a classic matchup: Star quarterback vs. top-ranked defense. For the Clemson Tigers to have a chance against Texas, Klubnik is going to need to win that battle.

The junior will be playing in front of his hometown fans in Austin, Texas, on Saturday, even as he dons Clemson’s road white and a different shade of orange from the Longhorns’ traditional burnt orange. With more than 3,300 yards on the season and 33 touchdowns – third-best in the nation – Klubnik is aiming to spoil Texas’ hopes for an easy path into the later rounds of the College Football Playoff.
But the unit he’s going up against is no joke. The Longhorns have only allowed four passing touchdowns all year and are only allowing 143.1 passing yards per game – tops in the nation.
Klubnik’s arm has already come up huge for Clemson in the biggest moments of its season so far, going for 262 yards and four touchdowns in the ACC championship game against SMU. He’ll need to outperform those heroics for the Tigers to pull off the massive upset Saturday afternoon.
Jeremiah Smith, Ohio State wide receiver
The talented freshman from Miami Gardens, Florida, isn’t just a key player because he can make plays that will turn a game on its head in an instant. He’s also a barometer of just how well the Buckeyes offense is moving the ball and his performance could be an indication of whether Ohio State beats Tennessee Saturday night at The Horseshoe.
The 6’3”, 215-pound playmaker leads the team in receiving yardage and receiving touchdowns and is the team’s strongest big play threat. But when he’s held in check or not targeted, as he was for much of Ohio State’s shocking 13-10 loss to Michigan last month, then the Buckeyes suffer.
Ohio State’s Jeremiah Smith (No. 4) looks to evade a tackle during a game versus Indiana last month. Jason Mowry/Getty Images
Traditionally a ground-and-pound running program, the Buckeyes boast an immensely talented receiving corps this year and have had their biggest wins when they successfully deploy that passing attack.
If offensive coordinator Chip Kelly decides to get away from that passing attack in favor of short runs into the teeth of a strong Tennessee rushing defense – and Smith is left watching the action from the edge of the formation, then it could be another nervous night in Columbus.
Dylan Sampson, Tennessee running back
The junior running back is leading the Volunteers in his first full season as the starter and has become one of the premier backs in college football.
Sampson has racked up honors this year – the Associated Press, coaches and USA Today SEC Offensive Player of the Year, second team All-American and first team All-SEC – after running for 1,485 yards and 22 touchdowns. He’s become the backbone of the Vols’ offense that’s averaged 232.5 yards per game on the ground, good for ninth in the nation.

But the Baton Rouge, Louisiana, native is facing his toughest test yet this year against the Buckeyes’ run defense. The Ohio State defense only gives up an average of 96.8 yards per game on the ground this year, sixth-best in the country.
It’s the kind of strength vs. strength matchup that fans arguing for the expanded playoff would have hoped for in the opening round, and will be arguably the key to the marquee matchup of the first round under the lights at historic Ohio Stadium.
Kurtis Rourke, Indiana quarterback
After four years at Ohio University, Rourke transferred to Indiana and has quickly written himself into Hoosier football lore. Twenty-seven touchdowns, 2,827 yards and just four interceptions have made the redshirt senior the centerpiece of the insurgent Indiana football program.
Rourke is aiming to put a cherry on top of a glittering college career with an upset win over Notre Dame on the Fighting Irish’s home field on Friday night, the first game in the expanded playoff and the first College Football Playoff game played at historic Notre Dame Stadium. It’s not exactly a traditional rivalry, but the all-Indiana matchup provides another mouth-watering showdown between a top offensive star and a stout defense.

Indiana comes in averaging 43.3 points per game, second-best in the country, but will face off against Notre Dame’s tough defense that only gives up an average of 157.9 yards per game and 13.6 points – both third-best in the country.
Given that Indiana also sports an incredibly talented defense – second-best overall in the country to Ohio State and the best against the run – Rourke’s ability to potentially break through the Irish’s secondary for big plays might end up being the best chance for the Hoosiers to pull off the biggest win in school history.

“Nothing to Do With Tennis History” – Alexander Zverev Expresses Frustration in a Scathing Critique of Davis Cup

0

“Bring back the real Davis Cup,” said World No.2 Alexander Zverev last year. In recent times, the Davis Cup has shifted from a home-and-away format to a single host city. Zverev is one of those who have never been in favor of this massive change and he has made it evident once again while taking a jab at the authorities.
Back in 2019, the organizers decided to change the structure of how the Davis Cup used to be played. In old days, participating nations had the opportunity to compete in home and away encounters. The event was spread across four weeks with teams playing five best-of-five sets. However, the ITF changed this format five years ago, ahead of the 2019 edition. The new format reduced the event’s duration to a week with participating nations engaging in three best-of-three matches, at a single venue/host city. In an interaction with Tennis Magazin, Alexander Zverev didn’t hesitate in expressing his unfiltered thoughts on this situation.
When asked about his feelings over the Davis Cup’s overhaul, Zverev said, “As it is now, it is not a Davis Cup, it is an exhibition tournament.” Continuing further, he added, “I love tennis. I am a very proud tennis player. Sure we all play for money, but money is not everything. I really love tennis with all my heart. For me, the Davis Cup is part of the tennis history. What is happening now has nothing to do with tennis history. It’s like a United Cup without points.”

For the unversed, Alexander Zverev didn’t participate in this year’s Davis Cup which was held last month in Malaga, Spain. However, his decision was owing to his ill health which forced him to withdraw his name. “Unfortunately, I will not be able to represent Germany at the Davis Cup finals in Malaga,” he said in October. “It was a very demanding season in which I had to play through with a knee injury in order to be able to take part in the Olympic Games,” Zverev added.
Zverev, in the meantime, is thinking about having a new coach as well. And who could be a better candidate for the role than his compatriot and idol Boris Becker? But can it materialize?

In the same interview with Tennis Magazin, Zverev also revealed his feelings about Boris Becker. He has time and again expressed the wish to have the former World No.1 and German legend as his coach. However, he’s not sure of how well Boris will accompany him across various ATP tours when it comes to traveling. “I love Boris and I also believe that he has an incredible knowledge of tennis. But I don’t know what it’s like to travel with him,” he said. “That is the only thing that is a question mark with him. As soon as he has solved and clarified this, one can talk about it,” he added.
“We always have contact with him and often talk to each other. Now for Australia, it will stay as it is and then I will look,” said Zverev. As of now, Zverev is going to stick with his current team which comprises his parents. They have been accompanying him on ATP tours for several years now. They will be there with him during the Australian Open as well next month. After that, however, it will be interesting to see whether the German ends up striking a partnership with Boris going forward in 2025.
Speaking about Boris Becker, he has always showered praises on Sascha Zverev. When he won his first ATP Finals title in 2018, Boris expressed his admiration for the young tennis sensation. “For years we have been saying tennis needs new faces and strong new players – and he’s proved he is the best of the next generation,” he said.

Six years ago, Zverev succeeded in overcoming the likes of Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic on his way to a title triumph at the ATP Finals. Alexander defeated Novak in the championship match 6-4, 6-3, and lifted the trophy. Following his stupendous run, Boris said, “To beat them back-to-back in one of the biggest tournaments in the world tells him, most importantly, but also the world, that he is going to be the next big thing.”
If this potential partnership materializes at any stage, it will be an absolute treat for the fans. But it’s a big ‘if.’ What do you think?

Coco Gauff’s Ex-Coach Imparts Crucial Wisdom as He Dishes Out His Honest Advice to Aspiring Tennis Pros

0

“Thank you @bgtennisnation! We had an incredible run and I wish you all the best in the future!,” were the words from Coco Gauff as she decided to part ways with renowned coach Brad Gilbert. Throughout his journey with the American WTA star, Gilbert not only helped her attain massive milestones including her first singles grand slam title but also marked several moments of her becoming an inspiration for budding players across the globe. Despite not officially mentoring anyone right now, it seems like the coach is still determined to carry on the same path.
Recently on Tennis Channel Inside-In, Brad Gilbert offered a piece of advice that could prove invaluable to young tennis players. He emphasized the importance of managing one’s game wisely and understanding personal strengths and weaknesses. “Well, I think the most important thing for, let’s say you’re a four, oh, I caught, learn how to manage or, you know, or her, you know, I say, learn how to manage your game. And it is being honest. Okay, my backhand is not that strong. I’m not going to try to rip it. How can I manage it? And maybe take some more risk with my forehand. If my second serve is giving me trouble matches, maybe let’s put first serve in play, you know. So I do think about how you manage your game, you know? Can make a difference for, you know, sometimes two games a set,” Gilbert said.
Gilbert’s advice sheds light on the value of self-awareness and strategy in tennis. He stresses that instead of trying to overcompensate for weaknesses, players should focus on playing to their strengths and making smart decisions during matches. Whether it’s improving shot selection or simplifying serves to minimize errors, Gilbert believes managing these aspects could determine the outcome of crucial games.

Gilbert has always been celebrated for his sharp insights into the game. Throughout his career, he has mentored some of the sport’s biggest stars, including Andre Agassi, Andy Roddick, and Andy Murray, guiding them to remarkable achievements. Agassi secured six Grand Slam titles under his coaching, while Roddick clinched the 2003 US Open title and achieved the year-end No. 1 ranking. Gilbert also helped Murray break into the top 10 rankings. Although his partnership with Coco Gauff ended following a string of poor results, his legacy as a coach and analyst remains impactful.
Gilbert’s approach to coaching is built on honesty, clarity, and the ability to adapt. Aspiring tennis players can learn from his philosophy and apply these principles to elevate their game. However, this isn’t the only time when he has stepped forward to offer relevant advice to young enthusiasts. He did it through the famous movie “Challenger” as well.

When Coco Gauff’s ex-coach gushed over Zendaya’s tennis-based movie
Brad Gilbert stepped into an entirely new role in 2022. The tennis legend became a consultant for the feature film Challengers, starring Zendaya, Josh O’Connor, and Mike Faist. This was no ordinary task for Gilbert, as he was responsible for helping actors with little to no tennis experience. Gilbert’s involvement stemmed from a suggestion by his daughter, Julian, who worked with Amy Pascal, one of the film’s producers. Recognizing a need for expertise, Julian introduced her father to the project, resulting in a unique collaboration that would elevate the authenticity of the tennis scenes.
Gilbert worked closely with the cast, teaching them the mechanics and movements required to mimic seasoned players. “It was a cool experience getting to see these people just like tennis players,” Gilbert shared. “You want to get better and perfect what you’re doing. Obviously, we had a short period of time. And it’s not easy when you haven’t played and you’re supposed to be a pro.” Despite the challenges, Gilbert noted that each actor brought something unique to the table. Mike Faist, for instance, had a slight advantage due to his high school tennis background, while Zendaya and Josh O’Connor were entirely new to the sport.

Zendaya, however, impressed Gilbert with her natural athleticism and adaptability. Both Oakland natives, Gilbert and Zendaya shared a unique connection, even having been born in the same hospital decades apart. Reflecting on her potential, Gilbert said, “Zendaya is definitely athletic. She’s a dancer and she can move and be balanced. That’s very much part of tennis.” Her ability to create balance and rhythm in her movements became a major asset and therefore enabled her to embody the role of a tennis professional.
Tennis fans would want to see Gilbert work with a top player at the highest level again. But till the time he isn’t, his pearls of wisdom as an analyst will continue to help the budding players.

Tennis Rumor: Speculation Arises Over Jannik Sinner and Anna Kalinskaya’s Relationship After Latest Development

0

“Yes, I’m with Anna, but we keep everything very confidential. I won’t say more,” said World No.1 Jannik Sinner earlier this year while confirming his relationship with WTA pro-Anna Kalinskaya. The loving chemistry, however, reportedly witnessed a fall after the rumors of their breakup went viral. It was then reported that the two-time Grand Slam winner tried to make things right with a visit to meet Anna in Miami on her birthday earlier this month. However, it seems like everything is still not right between the two. But why?
In an interaction with Harper’s Bazaar, dated December 20, Anna Kalinskaya talked about her 2024 season and other life changes. She discussed the challenges she faced due to her hamstring injury last year. “For me, it was a bit shocking, because it was the longest injury I’d had,” she said. However, this period of no play helped her a lot in more ways than one. “I realized how much I missed tennis and how much it gives, how many emotions it gives me, how many different things in my life it brings me, like meeting new people and having your routine. It was, for me, a big realization,” she revealed.
Strangely though, she didn’t say anything about her relationship with Jannik Sinner. Simply put, she declined to entertain any questions based on her love life with the Italian. “In the middle of 2024, she began dating year-end world No. 1 Jannik Sinner. At time of writing, the status of that relationship was unclear. Crystal clear, on the other hand, was the pre-interview instruction to BAZAAR not to raise the topic,” read one of the excerpts from the interview. But what does this imply? Is everything alright between Jannik and Anna? Or have they secretly parted ways without making it official following the rumors of their potential breakup?

It’s too early to make an assumption unless there comes an official update from either of them. But what led to this situation of Anna dodging the topic of her love life with the Italian? Well, it all began with an unexpected response from the World No.1 and ATP Finals winner last month.

When Jannik Sinner’s comments sparked unending speculations of a breakup with Anna Kalinskaya
Earlier in November, Jannik made several remarks regarding his girlfriend Kalinskaya. His words, however, didn’t sit well with many people. When asked if his relationship with Kalinskaya had made any significant impact on his life, Sinner said, “I don’t think anything has changed.” Continuing further, he added, “Having a girlfriend is something that either makes you feel good or makes you feel bad. I want it to be something that feels very natural, which comes into my life normally. I can’t afford to change as a player or as a person. That hasn’t happened, that’s why it works.”
Following that statement, Kalinskaya didn’t congratulate Sinner when he clinched the season finale in Turin and lifted the winner’s trophy. She was seen enjoying her holiday break in Miami with her friends. In the pictures posted on Instagram, there was no mention of Jannik at all.

If that wasn’t enough, another rumor suggested Jannik coming close to his former girlfriend and influencer Maria Braccini. She was seen during his matches at the ATP Finals last month. It sparked further speculations of him trying to rekindle with Maria after splitting up with Anna. None of these rumors was clarified in any way, thus leading to a complicated situation.
Now that Anna has refused to reveal anything about Jannik, as mentioned the latest interview, what are your thoughts on the whole situation? Let us know in the comments below.

Venus Williams’ $12 Million Haul Surpasses Simone Biles Even With Limited Tennis Matches

As curtains are set to draw down on the 2024 year, it is time to reflect on the achievements of the players on and off the court. With women’s sports growing massively, it has been a fantastic year for female athletes, who have left no stone unturned in their efforts. Forbes recently released the list of the highest-earning sportswomen of the 2024 season. While tennis stars dominated the list, there were some surprising entrants in the top 10, including the American legend, Venus Williams.
The 44-year-old has played just two tournaments this year and lost in the first rounds of both events. Additionally, she was absent from the Grand Slam tournaments and didn’t feature at the US Open. Despite her on-court absence, the elder Williams sister didn’t disappoint off the court and she even overtook Simone Biles in the Forbes list of highest-earning sportswomen this year.
Williams earned $12.1 Million this year and barring 0.1 Million, all her earnings came from off-court activities. The American legend has several endorsement deals in her kitty and she is one of the most marketable athletes even today. While Williams earns a lot as a public speaker, she is an ambassador for various brands and is also an entrepreneur.

On the contrary, Biles is placed in the 10th spot, a rung below Williams in the Forbes list. She earned $11.2 Million in 2024, with $11 Million coming from her off-field activities. Unlike Williams, Biles was active this year and made several appearances at the Gymnastics tournaments. The Forbes list is topped by the American sensation, Coco Gauff, who made a whopping $34.4 Million this year.
Coming back to Venus though, despite being a Millionaire, she spends her money wisely. She once revealed precious financial advice for her fans.

When Venus Williams opened up on owning a house
Owing a house has become a massive trend in America. People give up their life-long savings in order to own a property. However, Venus Williams has a contrary opinion when it comes to owning a property.
Talking about those who feel that owning a house is an American dream, she revealed, “I don’t think owning your house is the American dream. You should own the house once you’ve done everything else. Once you’ve invested your money, once it’s working for you, then maybe buy the house. Instead of putting that $100,000, $200,000 on that down payment, should you just rent a place and invest that money? You should compare the returns.”

Traditionally speaking, owning a house has been considered a financial success. As per one of the surveys, 78% of Americans considered owning a house to be very important. Despite the advantages of owning a house, renting a property is, however, less expensive for a starter. Thus, Williams feels that the priorities should shift as per the economic trends. What are your thoughts on it?

Next Gen Finals: Tennis Legend Expresses Shock in One Word Over Jakub Mensik’s Mid-Match Doping Drama

0

Tennis courts are no strangers to drama. From fiery outbursts to jaw-dropping calls, fans have seen it all. But the latest twist? A mid-match doping test at the Next Gen ATP Finals in Jeddah involving young Czech star Jakub Mensik. And let’s just say, even seasoned tennis pros are surprised by the move. The latest to join the fray? None other than the veteran of the sport, Boris Becker.
In an unexpected turn of events, the young Czech sensation was asked to undergo an anti-doping test during a toilet break during his match against Arthur Fils. Mensik was also seen registering his complaint with the umpire for the match, Nacho Forcadell, who also agreed with the youngster’s frustration and was heard saying, “You’re right.” The tennis world has been scratching its head over the unexpected scenarios they witnessed on Thursday and the latest to share his disbelief is Becker.
Taking to his X, the 57-year-old retweeted a post by Tennis Letter that stated the entire incident and how it unfolded. Captioning the post, Becker wrote, “What ?!?,” which signified his surprise and disbelief over the entire news. Interestingly, Becker is not the only person who has made a remark over the entire controversy.

Responding to the episode that unfolded in Jeddah, American ATP star Christopher Eubanks dropped his perspective. “As long as you are not in the course of a match, yes, they can, that’s what its whereabouts is about. But to come up to a player in a toilet break, after in the midst of a match and say ‘hey you have a doping test,’ I think its just came down to somebody didn’t understand the rules,” he said when quizzed if it is common for a player to witness such a situation. Interestingly, the entire controversy that took place in Jeddah is quite contrary to how Mensik wanted his tournament to unfold, which he expressed ahead of his campaign.
When Jakub Mensik expressed his goals for the Next Gen ATP Finals
Jakub Mensik depicted immense potential throughout the year. Starting the season as No. 167, he soon made his major debut at the Australian Open and captured much attention after a remarkable win against Denis Shapovalov in the first round. And as he geared up for the ATP Finals in Jeddah, he expressed his confidence as he opened up about his goals for the tournament.

“It was one of my biggest goals to reach this event before the season, I’m glad to be here. So far it’s amazing, the facilities and everything that they did for us.” he said in an interaction with the ATP Tour ahead of the tournament. Continuing further, he also made his goals clear and exuded his desire to lift the title. “You can feel really that you’re one of the best younger players in the world. I never have expectations. Obviously just to enjoy this beautiful tournament [is my goal]. Of course I would be happy to win a couple of matches and of course I’m going here to win it,” he added.
Now, with such incidents taking place, it would be interesting to see how well Mensik manages to keep his calm intact and progress in the tournament.

American Tennis Player Who Beefed With Novak Djokovic Reveals a Surprising Side of Life on Tour

Just two years into the sport as a pro has certainly changed things for Ben Shelton. He made his ATP Tour debut at the 2022 Atlanta Open, defeating Ramkumar Ramanathan, and quickly gained attention by reaching the third round of the Cincinnati Masters, where he stunned world No. 5 Casper Ruud. After announcing his decision to turn pro in August 2022, Shelton’s journey has been nothing short of wild. Now ranked No. 21 in the ATP standings, he has clinched two titles: one at the Tokyo Open in 2023 and another at the Houston Open in 2024. The American has had quite an eventful two years and he’s still learning as he goes.
While navigating the ups and downs of the tour, including a notable rivalry with top players, Shelton reflects on how much has changed since his debut. During a recent “hit and talk” session with On, the Swiss sportswear brand co-founded by Roger Federer, he answered fan questions while practicing. When asked about the most surprising aspect of being a tennis player, Shelton revealed, “How much you’re on the road and how much we travel.”

This year alone, Shelton competed in 25 tournaments, playing a total of 68 matches with an impressive win-loss record of 42-26. He’s certainly had his fair share of traveling experience.
At the 2023 US Open, after he took Frances Tiafoe in the quarterfinals with a score of 4-6, 7-5, 6-7 (4), 6-4, 6-3, Shelton showcased a unique way to celebrate a win known as the iconic “hang up the phone” gesture. While some viewed this gesture as arrogant, others appreciated its creativity. However, things took a turn during his semifinal clash at the 2023 US Open, when Novak Djokovic turned Shelton’s signature celebration against him.
After winning, Nole mimicked Shelton’s gesture. He initially claimed it was out of admiration but later suggested he did it because Shelton didn’tt “behave properly.” This sparked debates about unsportsmanlike behavior. The press didn’t let it down easy, the incident was brought up again at the 2024 Australian Open, and Shelton stated there was nothing to say and it was all in the past. “I feel like I’ve been asked about it constantly in the last four or five months. I feel like I’ve said my piece on the matter. I would rather just let it settle and move forward. We’re in Australia now, and we’re at the Australian Open and not the US Open anymore,” the American said.

Now as Shelton prepares for the 2025 season with a renewed passion for victories, he continues sharing glimpses of his personal life with his followers on social media. Among his joys is his Cadillac car, which recently faced some trouble for the young star.
Shelton expresses frustration over losing car parts
Earlier this month, Ben Shelton faced off against Carlos Alcaraz in an exhibition match in New York, where he unfortunately came up short. Despite the loss, Shelton is back to practicing hard. While his professional life seems to be on track, his personal life has hit a snag. He recently took to Instagram to share a close-up of his Cadillac Escalade, highlighting a frustrating issue: “Someone stole all 4 of my air caps,” he lamented, adding a crying emoji to express his disappointment.

Shelton has a deep affection for his Cadillac and often shares his experiences with it on social media. Last month, he was shocked to learn that car servicing costs could reach $300 per hour. In a humorous twist, he jokingly asked the shopkeeper if they were hiring, saying, “This service shop just told me their hourly labor rate is 300/hour when I asked them to do some work on my car. Crazy world out here.” His light-hearted take on the expensive repairs showcases his humility and appreciation for hard-earned money.
Always particular about his driving standards, Shelton even called out a fellow Cadillac driver at the 2024 Cincinnati Open for poor parking. He recorded himself expressing his dismay: “If they give everyone here a Cadillac Escalade, I think it’s a responsibility right? You can at least check the parking!” With his love for neat driving and beautiful Cadillacs, Shelton continues to entertain fans both on and off the court. Simone Biles Defended by Tennis Legend Over Tokyo Olympics ‘Ridiculous’ Controversy

0

Simone Biles is undeniably one of the greatest ever to grace the sport of gymnastics. She has proven this time and time again with her incredible talent on the mat. However, there has remained a very debatable blemish in her career after the Tokyo Olympics. The gymnast had to withdraw from some of the competitions because she was suffering from ‘Twisties’.
This has been used as an opportunity for many who dislike the gymnast to troll her, with some even going as far as saying that Simone Biles turned her back on her team. However, many fans have stood up for the Olympic gold medalist and defended her against this sometimes mindless trolling. The support has also come from the sports fraternity itself, as many athletes have praised her for her withdrawal and defended her from trolls. Now, it seems that a tennis legend can be added to that list.

On December 21st, Martina Navratilova had to defend Simone Biles from a troll on X who said that the gymnast was praised for her withdrawal in the Tokyo Olympics, despite her apparent betrayal of her team. “Funny that everyone said Simone Biles was stunning and brave when she refused to compete, quit, and let down her team for no apparent reason,” said user Convexity.
This did not sit right with the tennis legend Martina Navratilova, who probably understands Simone Biles’ plight much more as a sportsperson herself and thus ended up defending her. She tried to do this by explaining the condition the gymnast was suffering from.
Martina said, “Simone stopped in Tokyo for a very good reason—she lost herself in the air and couldn’t find the floor. Would you prefer she stayed on the team, brought the scores down, and perhaps got a broken neck along the way? What a ridiculous thing to say.” Thus, the tennis player defended Simone from the trolling. By doing so, she has joined some of the most notable athletes in the world who have also supported Simone Biles during this issue of her Tokyo Olympics withdrawal.
Other athletes who have shown support to Simone Biles
When Simone Biles withdrew from the 2021 Tokyo Olympics because of her ‘Twisties’, which may have emerged from her mental health at that time, it was an unprecedented positive move for the sport. It was a move that could help set up a much safer place for athletes in the future. This is why, while some of the outside world trolled her, many athletes praised her decision.
Track and field legend Usain Bolt was one of them. He claimed that he was extremely happy with the gymnast’s decision to withdraw, saying, “Personally, I really appreciate Simone Biles for pushing off the Olympics. It’s always good to take care of yourself first, and then everything will fall into place. So I’m very happy that she understood that. I have to take care of myself first, and then we’ll see what happens down the road.”

Bolt has also shown support to the gymnast after that in 2024, when he backed her to win a medal. Swimming legend Michael Phelps also supported the gymnast’s decision at that time and claimed that he hoped that it would open conversations about mental health in the future. “I hope this is an eye-opening experience, an opportunity for us to jump on board and blow this mental health thing even more wide open,” Phelps said. “It is so much bigger than we could ever imagine.”
The list doesn’t end there, as Simone Biles’ own teammate Jordan Chiles also defended her from the trolling, saying that nobody has more self-awareness than the gymnast herself. “She’s Simone for a reason,” Chiles declared, “and if she puts her mind to something… She’s not a quitter. You will never see Simone just go out there and not do what she knows she could do.” Thus, despite the trolling, Simone still has people in the community who will support her a lot. She deserves this support after all that she has achieved in the sport.

Nick Kyrgios Reinforces Long-Held Stance on Jannik Sinner With a Brutal Reality Check on Tennis’ Big-3

0

Nick Kyrgios is back at it, stirring the pot like only he can! The Aussie, known for wearing his heart on his sleeve and sparking fiery debates, has once again dropped a bold take—and tennis fans are buzzing. Kyrgios, never one to mince words, recently found himself in the spotlight after comparing rising stars Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz to the legendary Big 3—Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic. While the initial statement drew mixed reactions, Kyrgios isn’t backing down. Instead, he’s reinforcing his stance and giving a brutal reality check to the young generation.
The Australian tennis star, who is set to return to the courts in 2025 after a long hiatus sparked a controversy during the December 14th episode of Nothing Major podcast. Comparing Sinner and Alcaraz with Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, and Rafael Nadal, Kyrgios said that they are yet to match the aura of tennis legends. However, some media reports quoted only parts of his statement that read, “They’re just kids. Alcaraz and Sinner don’t have aura.” This led to a huge furor with fans bashing Kyrgios for his remarks.
One user made a similar comment on X and wrote, “at least they have grand slams, that’s more than u can say,” taking a dig at Kyrgios. But this time, the Aussie star was in no mood to take an offense and came out to defend his stance. Reiterating and clarifying to what exactly he said in the podcast, Kyrgios wrote, “No context here at all lol. Media is in a bad spot that’s for sure. Compared to Novak , Federer, Nadal they are yet to have the aura that they have.” Continuing further, he also highlighted the potential of Sinner and Alcaraz.

“They will for sure get there but realistically they are kids doing insane things. Do better. Potatoes,” Kyrgios tweeted. Notably, his latest comment is quite similar to what he discussed earlier on the podcast as well. In the conversation earlier, Nick Kyrgios remarked, “I feel like if you got a favorable draw and then you get to a quarters or a semis and by then the adrenaline’s pumping and you feel like.. they(Alcaraz and Sinner) are just kids for me like still.” Further, he compared playing against the Big Three and today’s generation and shared that while they have potential, they are yet to match the aura of the tennis greats.
“Alcaraz and Sinner and stuff, they are good. They are going to be generational talents and probably some of the best tennis players but for me they don’t have that aura yet of when I played the Federer and Djokovic like they don’t to have that yet and I think that’s a big edge,” he added in the interview. Yet again, he has come out to defend his stance. But interestingly, when it comes to Jannik Sinner, Kyrgios’ take has been quite provocative in the past.
It all started after Sinner’s doping case came to light after the Cincinnati Masters this year. Taking sharp digs at the Italian star, Kyrgios has been demanding a ban against him. And now, as he gears up for the Australian Open, he has also made a surprising wish against Sinner.

When Nick Kyrgios shared a ruthless take against Jannik Sinner ahead of Australian Open
Nick Kyrgios and Jannik Sinner have been witnessing a strained relationship for quite some time now. As the Australian player gears up for the Australian Open, he didn’t shy away from showing his desperation and highlighted his desire to play against Sinner. But what was more surprising was his statement about creating a hostile environment against the Italian dynamo at the venue.
Speaking in the same podcast, Kyrgios said, “I just want to go out there and I really want to play Sinner. Like I’m waiting for it, man.” Continuing further, he detailed his exact plan. “Well, I thought about this and I’ve been thinking, I’ve been talking about it a little bit, like if I played him in Australian Open, like I would get every single person in the crowd to just like get on him,” he said, adding “I would just turn into an absolute riot. Like I would lose all respect, would go out the window and would just do anything to win.”

Now, with the Grand Slam in Melbourne less than a month away, it would be interesting to see if Kyrgios and Sinner face each other. What can be the outcome of the clash? Well, only time will tell.

Man of His Words, Bryson DeChambeau Fulfills Big Promise He Made to Fans After Quitting PGA Tour

Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka recently played at the Shadow Creek Golf Club at the Showdown. LIV Golf had been very vocally rooting for their members, while the PGA Tour had no backup for Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy. However, they ended up losing to the PGA Tour pros, and that was when their verdict completely turned around. After the loss, LIV Golf took to their official Instagram account shared a picture of all four players, and put up a caption that suggested that golf won as a whole instead of just the PGA Tour.
The golf community was not very happy with the sudden change in the tone and dubbed them ‘sore losers.’ Additionally, DeChambeau was among the first players to move to the controversial Saudi-backed league with Phil Mickelson in 2022. This already had the fans upset. When he made the shift he made a promise to the golf fans, “Grow the game”. He stated that his desire to switch was driven by the thought of expanding the game and going beyond the 72-hole format. He wanted to attract new players to the sport. While almost every other player has been saying the same, most of them have not proven it yet. But the Crushers GC Captain is all set to change that.
As it turns out, Bryson DeChambeau might have redeemed himself in front of the fans after another latest news. The Asian Tour’s elevated International Series will make its India debut with a $2 million event from January 30 to February 2, 2025, at the DLF Golf and Country Club. This will mark the first appearance of the LIV Golf caravan in the subcontinent.

The PGA Tour has most of its events in the US, and the DP World Tour keeps its events restricted to Europe. But what is special about LIV Golf is the fact that it travels all around the world, and has been hosting its events globally. From Miami to Chicago, to Adelaide, and other cities too. Even Las Vegas! And now it will be making its big move to India. And the players have been eagerly going to all the courses to play professional golf. Taking to this, one of them wrote about DeChambeau, “A topline American pro who travels around the world, how refreshing…” Another, taking to the fact that LIV Golf is bringing such big names to India wrote, “Great for Indian golf fans and expect more LIV players to commit ”
