It is officially 2023 and the NASCAR season is almost upon us. However, it will be about another month before we actually get some NASCAR racing action. After all, the Daytona 500 kicks off in February, and the Clash at the Coliseum flags off just before that. Owing to this, for a few fans of the stock car series, 2023 does not start until the Cup season begins. Former NASCAR driver Jeff Burton definitely shared that opinion and declared that for him, the New Year is the start of the 2023 season.

He said on Twitter, “I’m on a racing calendar. So like, my New Year starts in February. As silly as that sounds, because most of my life, has been around racing. Even when I was 16 or 17, everything was, okay the year starts. For Late Models it was April or late March. Now it’s February, so the year starts then. What can fans expect from the 2023 NASCAR season?
If we’re being completely honest, there are a lot of exciting things in store for everyone. A number of drivers have changed teams, case in point, Kyle Busch, Tyler Reddick, and many more. There are some returning faces like Ryan Preece, who joins Stewart-Haas Racing, and Jimmie Johnson to Petty GMS Motorsports. Finally, drivers like Noah Gragson and Ty Gibbs have graduated from the Xfinity Series to the Cup Series on a full-time basis.

Like last year, the 2023 Cup Series season will kick off at the Los Angeles Coliseum. Although it is not the ‘official’ start of the Cup campaign, it does indicate the start of the racing season. Joey Logano will be a man on a mission, as he aims to be a consecutive champion, for the first time since Jimmie Johnson.
